Current Mag is Award Finalist!

Current Mag is Award Finalist!

27/11/2012

Current, our magazine for cadets has been nominated for an award and has made the final three! CMA - the international content marketing awards, hosted by Russell Kane, will announce at the London ceremony on 28/11/2013 who the winner is. CMA celebrates and rewards the content that’s combined innovation, creativity and effectiveness.

And we're thrilled to have made it to the final, and even if we don't win, it is still a huge achievement for us to have got this far. Current is still in it's first year and to be recognised in this way makes us very proud.

Current launched in Autumn 2011, as a magazine for cadets to help create a sense of community and a platform to share information and ideas with 14,000 Sea Cadets. From learning the ropes, literally with knot tying tutorials, a Sea Cadet specialisation, to winning tickets to see the latest James Bond film, Current is a magazine that try's to give cadets as much as possible in a digital format.

Sea Cadets Remember

08/11/2012

A group of Sea Cadets from Guernsey and Jersey have been selected to attend the annual Festival of Remembrance at London's Royal Albert Hall.

They will represent the national Sea Cadets at the event, which is organised by the Royal British Legion.

Twenty-eight cadets will travel to London, one of whom will be selected to carry the Sea Cadet Corp's Colours. Every year Sea Cadets from across the UK take part in the Festival of Remembrance which takes place on 10 November and forms part of the Remembrance Day commemorations.

On Sunday 11 November, they will commemorate Remembrance Day as they join the march up Whitehall to lay a wreath at the Cenotaph on behalf of the Sea Cadets – this is the first time a wreath has been laid from the Channel Isles.

Help Us Build a New Ship!

Oct 2013

Sea Cadets have launched a national fundraising campaign to build a new ship to replace the charity’s iconic flagship, TS Royalist now over 40 years old -   and we need your help.

As well as units and districts being committed to raising money towards the appeal, staff across the country will also sign up for  challenges and and a variety of other events to help the charity meets its target.

A voyage in TS Royalist is the pinnacle of the cadet experience – an iconic once in a lifetime offshore adventure that literally puts the sea in Sea Cadets! A voyage on her is available to all 14,000 UK Sea Cadets and every year taking 1500 cadets to sea, that’s 30,000 since her launch in 1971.

This sail training ship has helped young people to develop teamwork and confidence and face challenges in an exhilarating environment.

The charity has worked hard over the last two years, already raising £3.8m of the £5.6million target but now  we need your help in one last push, please help us by showing your support and making a vital contribution, whether small or large, to make sure thousands of cadets can keep sailing with Sea Cadets!
