SEA CADET MEETS ROYAL FAMILY AT TOWER OF LONDON

05/08/2014

Sea Cadet James from London Western District meets the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge and Prince Harry at the Tower of London today, to commemorate the 100th anniversary of Britain’s involvement in World War One. The Royal Family will plant a ceramic poppy in an art installation symbolising the thousands of lives lost during the war.

The exhibition, called Blood Swept Lands and Seas of Red, features more than 800,000 ceramic poppies pouring out of the tower and into the dry moat.

James is joined by cadets from Army Cadet Force and Air Training Corps. More photos are published on the Sea Cadets UK Facebook page, and watch the video of James meeting the Royal Family and handing a ceramic poppy to Prince William on the BBC News website.

SEA CADETS HAVE SAILED THE UK!

SEA CADETS HAVE SAILED THE UK!

15/07/2014

Across the country, thousands of Sea Cadets and volunteers were challenged to collectively sail a total of 7,380 miles – the number of miles around the UK. We are very pleased to announce that they did it! They sailed a massive 7,445 miles – beating their target by 65 miles!

During Saturday 21 to Sunday 29 June, Sea Cadets and volunteers got out on the water to sail as many miles as they could, seeking sponsorship for every mile they sail to help them raise money for their units. They took over lakes, rivers, canals and boating stations across the country to help them reach their target, and some units were lucky to have a visit from Captain Sea Cadets, Captain Jon Holloway RN, during their sailing events. Well done!

On Saturday 28 June, Cardiff Sea Cadets were treated to a rare  conversation with the First Sea Lord, Admiral Sir George Zambellas KCB DSC ADC DL.

They were at an Armed Forces parade when Sir George chatted with Junior Cadet Tyrell about the unit. Later that afternoon Tyrell again met with the First Sea Lord but introduced the rest of the volunteers and cadets to him. A once in a life time opportunity!
