150 Sea Cadets from across the UK took part in the Lord Mayor’s Parade on Saturday 9 November in London, to celebrate the arrival of the 686th Lord Mayor. It is the world’s largest unrehearsed parade through the city.

Despite the rain thousands of people lined up the streets of London, not to mention the millions of people watching on TV, were treated to the National Band of the Sea Cadets Corps! Sea Cadets were on a branded float waving to the crowds as well as a marching platoon on either side of the float.

Look at all the photos from the parade on the Sea Cadets UK Facebook page.

Sea Cadets from across the UK are taking part in services to commemorate Armistice Day. In London on Saturday 9 November, Sea Cadets (pictured) will attend the Royal British Legion's Festival of Remembrance; an annual event to honour those who have given their lives in the Service for their country. On Sunday 10 November, 10 Sea Cadets have the privilege to be part of the national Remembrance Sunday service joining the Royal Family and political party leaders at the Cenotaph Parade in Whitehall, London. Sea Cadets will lay a wreath on the war memorial on behalf of the charity.

Staffordshire Sea Cadets are taking part in the route line up at National Memorial Arboretum at their outdoor service on Monday 11 November. Sea Cadets will be joining Army and Air Cadets to line the steps of the Centre of Remembrance.

50 Sea Cadets from across the UK took part in a debating competition on Saturday 2 November at RAF Cranwell, Lincoln. They were given extensive training about how to structure a debate. They competed against each other debating whether national service should be compulsory, and if troops should be able to opt out of wars if they personally disagree with the conflict.

David from Chester and Staffordshire District, John from East Kent District, Bryony from North East Yorkshire District, and Alex and Sam from Tyne South District won the final debate on the day. They will join Army and Air Cadets at the national debating competition at House of Lords on Friday 29 November.

The debating competition is hosted by the House of Lords to mark the anniversary of the First World War, supported by the English Speaking Union and Royal British Legion.
