A huge BZ to our unit First lieutenant Petty Officer L Brett was successful at his promotion course and gained his promotion to Chief Petty Officer at his advancement course in Portsmouth.

Margate Sea Cadets held its annual presentation evening at the Walpole Bay Hotel with Margate’s Mayor Cllr Robin Edwards in attendance and presenting officer Major James Juniper RMR Company Commander Zulu Company.

The sea cadet of the year award went to Able Cadet Emily Edwards and the Marine cadet of the year went to Marine Second Class Adam Birch this was awarded to them for their dedication their achievements in training and development over the course of the last 12 months.

 Marksman of the year went to Cadet Lance Corporal Joe Curtis (Pictured) the Commanding Officers awards went to Able Cadet Jack Sellers  

Three cadets were presented with Bursary’s for offshore voyages in 2016 my thanks goes to our sponsors from the HMS Jamaica Association. These cadets will get an opportunity to go for a week on the sea cadet’s flagship TS royalist a square rigged sailing ship.

Brigadier (Retd) David Ralls CBE DFC DL was greeted by a side party and welcomed on-board with ceremonial colours followed by an inspection of the cadets. The cadets gave three displays of sending a message by semaphore, a seamanship rope work and rigging demonstration and the marine section gave a brief demonstration casualty evacuation and emergency first aid in a field situation. The brigadier presented a total of 64 qualifications and promotions to the sea and marine cadets acclimated over the summer training period. This finished off a summer season of hard work and determination from our all our cadets. Our unit Chairman Michael Bon enrolled our new president Mr Mac Wilkinson who for many years was the unit vice president.

Gears of Change quex park 18-19 june

 

We are pleased to announce that the Sea Cadets will be at the Gears of Change event held at Quex Park on the 18 - 19 June with lots of activities to see and take part in, so come alone and meet us.

The unit will be taking part in a field gun competition, thanet units will race to complete an assemble of the gun and a dash across the line.first across the line is the winner  its going to be a photo finish. there will be a combined sea cadets band with a display in the main arena.There will be static displays and a chance to take part yourselves with have a go on the climbing wall or camouflaging up with the marine cadets and field craft demonstrations.
