PALACE REVIEW PARADE - LONDON MARCHING BAND WEEK

PALACE REVIEW PARADE - LONDON MARCHING BAND WEEK

HUGE HONOR FOR – MARGATE SEA CADETS & ROYAL MARINE CADETS

On June 28, 1992, the streets of London witnessed an unprecedented display of musical unity. The inaugural National Music Day brought together over 130 bands from every corner of the British Isles. Margate Unit Band took part in that historic parade, so when asked to take part again, there was only one answer, only this time, those former Cadets who originally took part, now adults, will once again play such a momentous role.

Yesterday, thanks to the London Band Week promoters, Margate Sea Cadets & Royal Marine Cadets Band, Cadets, Staff, Committee and Parents travelled to London to take part in the Palace Parade Review Parade in London as part of this year’s London Band Week National Marching Music Day where the splendour and stately grandeur of The Mall will be elevated to even greater heights by the stirring spectacle of magnificent marching bands, proudly doing what they cherish most - marching in perfect unison and filling the air with music, it was such a tremendous honour and privilege to take part, and an experience for everyone.

Marching from Horse Guards Parade, down the Mall, saluting the VIP's and Guests at Buckingham Palace, then marching around and back to Horse Guards Parade, was a huge honour and privelage,

But for two staff members, to whom were cadets during the 1992 parade, this was a trip down memory lane, and special to once again take part.

2026 - Margate Unit

With over 26 marching bands from across the country and even America taking part, it was an amazing sight to see!

On behalf of the entire ship’s company, we would like to say a huge thank you to the organisers our dedicated band liasion for the day Callum, and also Coach Driver Richard from Local Coach Company Loyalty Connections.

ARMED FORCES DAY PARADE

Yesterday, cadet forces from across Thanet attended Ramsgate's Armed Forces Day along with serving personnel and veterans. As always it was an absolute honour and privelage for TS Jamaica, Margate Sea Cadets & Royal Marine Cadets Band to lead the parade.

With the band leading, followed by standard bearers and local cadet organisations, everyone marched from the Sailors Church to Weatherspoons, where a service was took place to remember those who gave their today so we could have our tomorrow.

We were also treated to an amazing display of drums from the QRA CORPS of Drums". Deputy Leiuetenant, Mayor of Ramsgate, and Mayor of Margate along with other VIP's were present, along with public, and guests.

Well done to everyone who took part, it was a very proud day and we are thankful to have been invited to this prestigious parade.

DOVER 100

DOVER 100

Last weekend, our cadets and staff joined Sea Cadets East Kent to celebrate Dover and Deal Sea & Royal Marines Cadets 100th Anniversary.

Our band cadets joined forces with other units from the District to form the East Kent Mass Band, which led the parade.

We were invited to attend a church service before heading to the town hall, where Dover Unit had arranged a fantastic presentation of their history, to now and an inspection carried out by Captain Sea Cadets Captain H MacKenzie VR RN.

Followed by some very tasty refreshments. It was great to see the cadets from across the district socialising with each other and staff.

We then listened to some of Dover's cadets past and present, to just how the Sea Cadet Corp has influenced their lives and given them memories they hold dearly.

Dover Cadets and staff treated us to a great musical performance, worthy of a standing ovation.

Lastly we witnessed Dover create a time capsule, filled with memorabilia that will be hidden to be reopened in 50yrs.

Well done Dover and Deal Sea & Royal Marines Cadets and thank you all for a wonderful day and inviting us to celebrate your special milestone.

Well done to all the cadets and staff in attendance, it was a proud moment to be part of.

Another hot day yesterday, our band led the Operation Dynamo Parade in Ramsgate, celebrating and remembering those who fell and were saved on the beaches of Dunkirk, and the brave sailors who sailed boats across the channel.

Cadets and staff from across Sea Cadets East Kent joined veterans and other cadet forces to mark this remarkable operation 86 years on. It was an extremely hot day for all who took part, however they marched on with pride and unity.
