OPERATION DYNAMO 86TH ANNIVERSARY

OPERATION DYNAMO 86TH ANNIVERSARY

Another hot day yesterday, our band led the Operation Dynamo Parade in Ramsgate, celebrating and remembering those who fell and were saved on the beaches of Dunkirk, and the brave sailors who sailed boats across the channel.

Cadets and staff from across Sea Cadets East Kent joined veterans and other cadet forces to mark this remarkable operation 86 years on. It was an extremely hot day for all who took part, however they marched on with pride and unity.

Thank you to all the organises Association of Dunkirk Little Ships (official) Ramsgate Royal Naval Association for making the day a tremendous success and inviting us to participate.

Well done to our Standard Bearers LC Hards-Morris, AC Lloyd and PO Bailey, you did a wonderful job and represented the unit with pride.

Thank you to all the volunteers and parents who kept everyone in the parade hydrated and carried out welfare.

MAYORS CADET 2026-27

MAYORS CADET 2026-27

On Monday 18 May 2026, at St John’s Church in Margate, our Unit proudly attended the Annual General Meeting of the Margate Charter Trustees and the Mayor Making Ceremony. Cadets formed a Guard of Honour for the occasion.

During which Cllr Leo Britcher was elected Mayor of Margate for 2026/27, with Tamara Campbell appointed Mayoress. Cllr Martin Boyd was elected Deputy Mayor, with Elizabeth Stone appointed Deputy Mayoress.

Margate Sea Cadets and Royal Marine Cadets were also delighted to see Able Cadet Green appointed as the Mayor’s Cadet. Over the coming year, he will attend civic and ceremonial events representing the Unit, while supporting the Mayor and the Charter Trustees across the town.

The newly elected Town Mayor also automatically takes up the role of one of our Unit’s Vice-Presidents. We are proud and honoured to continue working closely with the Town, its Mayor, the Charter Trustees, and the wider community.

As a Unit, we would like to extend our sincere thanks to both Katie and Leo, together with their Mayoresses, for their continued support of the Unit, and we look forward to another successful year ahead. We are especially proud to congratulate AC Green on his appointment as Margate Town Mayor’s Cadet.

Both Able Cadet Green and the Unit are honoured to support and assist the Mayor, Charter Trustees, and the people of Margate throughout the year ahead.

GRASPAN PARADE LONDON

GRASPAN PARADE LONDON

Our Royal Marines cadets are in London participating in Lima Company Royal Marines Cadets Memorial Graspan parade today.

Our Cadets and CFAVs are joining serving Royal Marines, veterans, and fellow RMC Cadets & Staff, commemorating Royal Marines. What an experience for them.

The Graspan Parade is a proud annual event celebrating and remembering the courage, service, and sacrifice of Royal Marines past and present at the historic Graspan Royal Marines Memorial in central London - a monument dedicated to those who served in conflicts from the Boer War to modern times.

For both our Royal Marines Cadets and CFAVs (Cadet Force Adult Volunteers) to attend and take part is an incredible honour and we would like to thank the entire RMC Community, and Organiser for including us in the Parade and Service.
