An end of an era

An end of an era

Our Parents and Supporter's Association work tirelessly over 4 main events during the year to raise funds for the unit. These includes a porter service at the Three Counties Show Ground, and this month’s Autumn Show was a poignant one.

For many years these events have been headed and coordinated by Angie Parker, the chair of the P&SA, and Sarah Veale, but all good things must come to an end, and both Angie and Sarah have decided it is time to hang up their purple fleece, and it is hoped that more volunteers will be able to come forward to pick up the reigns.

Unit Chair David Black emphasised the contribution both have made during a presentation made at the end of the show, and the whole unit express their thanks.

While we look for a new chairperson for the P&SA, we keep our fingers crossed that Angie and Sarah won’t be strangers and might be able to help pull a trolley at least one more time in the future.

Area Regatta Success

Area Regatta Success

Despite the relentless rain, the Area Regatta Competition was a resounding success. AC Henry's paddle sports prowess stole the spotlight, with him claiming bronze, silver, and gold medals across various events. Meanwhile, the junior rowing team pulled well together, winning silver medals despite limited practice opportunities.

Juniors celebrate success

Juniors celebrate success

Our juniors have been working hard on various topics and following some recent review of progress, we were able to recognise this through a number of presentations during our last presentation evening on July 6.
Module badges were awarded for Core unit activities (Red), Waterbourne (Blue), Recreational and Outdoor (Green) and Community & Citizenship (Yellow).
Most of our juniors also received awards for their recent STEM (Sceince Technology Engineering and Maths) activities and a number of juniors were also promoted.
It is great to see the outcome of the hard work of the youngest members of the unit, and there will be lots more to come.

Reopening and Awards Night

Reopening and Awards Night

The unit reopened its doors on July 6, unveiling a vibrant and newly decorated main deck. The revamped space creates an exciting atmosphere for cadets' training and activities. During the reopening ceremony, the unit also celebrated over the last year with some Annual Awards. Junior Cadet Ben received recognition as the Best Junior Cadet, Leading Cadet Rubi stood out as the Best Dressed, OC Izzie's community endeavors earned her praise, and AC Henry was honored as the Best Cadet, and the Staff Endeavor award went to PO Roper for ongoing and consistent commitement through recent change in the unit. The refuribishment marks a clear point in a new chapter for the unit, and we look forward to growth and success in the future.

VOLUNTEERS WANTED

VOLUNTEERS WANTED

Malvern Sea Cadets is a local charity based organisation that provides a variety of activities to young people across our community aged 10 - 18, and aims to help them achieve the best possible head start in life through both nautical and land based adventure, educational and fun.

We rely heavily upon the goodwill and commitment of all our volunteers, parents and other friends and supporters to operate, and currently have a wide range of areas where we could benefit from extra volunteer support.

Most of these roles will typically involve an hour or so of your time throughout each month, though some others may require a greater level of time commitment on either a regular or periodic basis. We will always aim to work with whatever time constraints exist for you, and if practical to do so, support online or home based working. We will however also encourage everyone to come along to the Unit or our events when they can, to be a part of our team and see first hand the benefits to our cadets and juniors as well as for all our volunteers.

Can you or others you know spare some time to help us?

Do you or anyone you know have experience or knowledge in any of the areas detailed below?

If so, we would love to hear from you for an informal chat on what’s involved or simply to provide you with more information to make it easier for you to decide if you want to get involved!

Please get in touch!
