Scimitar is triumphant at the Merseyside East...

St Helens Sea Cadets in previous years have been successful at this competition, especially last year when the Junior Girls Team managed to compete at the National Sea Cadet Rowing Competition - a first in a long time for Scimitar. Today (Sunday 21st June 15), Scimitar attended the District Rowing Competition at Liverpool Waterfront Sports Centre. We entered 3 Teams - Junior Boys, Junior Girls & Senior Boys. The overall results were fantastic!

Junior Boys - 1st Place

Junior Girls - 1st Place

Senior Boys - 2nd Place

This is magnificent achievement for Scimitar and her Ships Company. We now have 2 teams entered in the North West Area Competition. Bravo Zulu to all that participated and made this event truly successful.

Scimitar completed a bag pack at Asda St Helens to raise vital funds for the Unit and the Minibus Fund. We raised a huge amount of £325 in total. At the moment, we are saving up for a Unit Minibus so that we can transport Cadets & Adults across the country for not only important Sea Cadet events but for local fundraisers etc. Thank you to everyone that donated & the cadets and staff that attended.

Sainsbury's we will be launching a customer vote in-store and online (www.sainsburyslocalcharity.co.uk) during 15th – 28th June, where customers will have the chance to vote for their preferred charity of the three shortlisted.

Sainsbury's Local Charity scheme gives them the chance to work with us, to help raise money and awareness for our charity. Over the past six years, their stores have been partnering with local charities to make a positive difference to the community.

Once the votes have been counted the three shortlisted charities will be informed of the result. The charity with the most public votes both in-store and online will be their store’s Local Charity of the Year.
