COMMANDO SPEED MARCH

For the first time we undertook a sponsored walk between Spean Bridge and Achnacarry in aid of unit funds andto commemorate the WWII Commandos who trained at 'Castle Commando'. This years winner was NE John Maciver who covered the distance in 1hr 34 mins. Thanks go to Donald Cameron of Locheil who let us use his ground and get our picture taken at the front door of the castle.

UNIT AND QUEEN CELEBRATE THEIR DIAMOND JUBILEES...

Not only was Her Majesty celebrating the Diamond Jubilee of her accession to the throne, but it was our 60th birthday too! So we decided to have a double celebration!!! This picture shows many of the cadets and staff of the unit by the Highland Hotel, the HQ of HMS St Chrstopher.

We were honoured to be asked to parade at Lochaline for HRH The Earl of Wessex (Prince Edward). The weather was fantastic and everyone had a super day.

CADETS GAIN BOATING QUALIFICATIONS

CADETS GAIN BOATING QUALIFICATIONS

Three cadets gained a number of boating qualifications at the Annual Boat Training weekend in Inverness. Hannah Calder and Catherine Watchman gained their RYA Level 1 Powerboating and Rowiing Competent Crew Qualifications. Meanwhile Christie Heriot gained her RYA Level 2 Powerboating qualification. Congratulations to them all! The picture shows the RYA Level 2 course. It was also great that two of the Moray Firth Dolphins cam and had a play, while we were there. See our gallery for a picture.

POLICE GIVE DRUGS TALK

Drug and alcohol abuse are significant issues in Lochaber. PC Ian Fraser came to the unit and gave a fantastic talk to the cadets, parents and instructors about the hazards of taking illegal drugs. In the week prior to this talk, one person died and 14 others were taken to hospital as a result of illegal drug activity in the area.
