CFC Lily and Gabriel did drill all weekend where they re-capped all their drill from New Entry Cadet up to Able Cadet, they also tried the 8 pace auto-wheel for the first time and they also tried a bit of continuity drill.

Gloucester Day Parade 2017

Gloucester Day Parade 2017

On Saturday 2nd September TS Gloucester's Corps of Drums were out in full force to support the Gloucester Day Parade. This parade celebrates the lifting of the siege in 1643. This was due to an engagement in the First English Civil War between the defending Parliamentarian garrison of Gloucester and the besieging army of King Charles I. The siege finally ended with the arrival of Parliamentarian army under the Earl of Essex.

The City of Gloucester celebrates this with a parade through the city which contains bands, actors, youth group, members of the council and other civil dignitaries.

Head over to our Facebook page to see a live video of the band parading past the Dias with PO (SCC) Lloyd saluting the Mayor of Gloucester, Councillor Steve Morgan Gloucester Sea Cadets Facebook Pag

POC Robert had the honour of being asked by the City's Town Crier, Alan Myatt, to carry the standard of the City of Gloucester and lead the parade.

Needless to say he was very happy to do so.

Sea Cadet Advancement

Sea Cadet Advancement

Last weekend AC Alex and LC Robert both attended the South-West Area Advancement Board down at Sea Cadet Training Centre Weymouth. The cadets are assessed on thie uniform, their drill, their ability to teach drill, a 15 minute lesson they create and leadership. It all finishes with an interview with the Area Training Officer Lieutenant-Commander (SCC) Marc Styles RNR and the Deputy Area Officer Commander Clive Smith RN rtd.

Prior to the board the Cadets have attend the Basic and Advanced Peer Educator Course, complete 48 Leadership Development modules and send off an evidence journal, showing what they have learnt in these 48 modules and evidence of their preparation for the 15 minute lesson along with reflection on a practice go. This is sent off to marked and once they have received a pass they may attend the advancement board.
