Powering ahead with Champ!

Powering ahead with Champ!

The long refurbishment of our Cheverton Champ is now complete, with minor work to be finished. The Champ was launched by the Unit President, Boat Officer and Commanding Officer on Saturday 13th April at Deganwy Slipway.

The Champ took a small maiden voyage down Conwy River to the Quayside to see the Treasurer, Colin Logan, and returned to its mooring.

This is a huge step forward for our unit's boatwork training strategy.

Brava Zulu to all cadets and staff, past and present for their efforts over the three years.

Engine Update

Engine Update

The refurbished engine finally went into the Champ last week after several attepmts made by cadets and staff, but the laws of physics over-ruled that we needed hydraulic power. We were assisted by some local militarians who used their little tonka toy to put the engine into the Champ.

We have some little tidying up jobs to do before we can launch, we hope to do this on the 6th of April. We will get the work done by the 11th April hoping to launch at High Tide over the weekend of the 12th-13th.

Cadet to go International

Cadet to go International

Petty Officer Cadet Jones applied to attend this year's Sea Cadet International Exchange Programme, fully supported and recommended by SLt (SCC) J Crowther RNR (Officer in Charge) and Lt Cdr (SCC) C Jones RNR (District Officer).

After careful consideration Sea Cadet Headquarters came to the decision to accept POC Jones' application and is therefore to spend 10 days abroad supporting and representing UK Sea Cadets.

POC Jones was accepted to go to Bermuda!

He departs at the beginning of July, as a cadet, and will return 18, hopefully as a member of staff.

Well done and well deserved!

Cadet Swim to Raise Funds!

Cadet Swim to Raise Funds!

10 Sea Cadets were involved in a sponsored swim to raise funds for the unit, to go towards subsidising courses and other activities for the cadets.

Cadets had an hour to get in as many lengths as possible and the amount of lengths swam were close to 200 altogether!

Bravo Zulu to all involved
