2013 - Remembrance Sunday

2013 - Remembrance Sunday

This years Remembrance parade was especcially special for two reasons.

Firstly this was the first year that the new Chairman from the Royal British Legion had arranged it. They had added some changes to lengthen the parade and had added an eyes left when we march past the memorial.

Secondly it was a record turnout for the unit with six members of staff and twenty Cadets on parade. All Cadets were looking their absolute best after a small session the evening before to get all their badges sewn on and learning how to iron correctly. Also this year Chiswick Buzz were filming the whole parade and a video of the day can be found here

We have a large amount of photos from the day on our facebook page which can be seen here

We were very proud of both POC Bond-Vaughan and POC Bales for their stellar performance in both the District and Area Canoeing competitions. They both managed to make it throught to the National competition that was held at Victoria docks. They stayed the Friday night at the Excel centre with Cadets from all over the UK.

Saturday turned out to be a beautiful day and while our girls performed exceptionally well the Cadets from Northern, Southern and North Western were even better.

The London Area team did however have some success in Rowing and Sailing.

A group of Chiswick Cadets also joined us to help cheer on their friends and meet Cadets from other units and areas.

2013 - Summer Camp

This year we sent twelve Cadets, escorted by A/P.O Reece Lewis, to go enjoy a week at the London Area Summer Camp. They spent their week enjoying various activities including waterskiing, canoeing and riding on a banana boat.

Thames Diamond Jubilee Pageant

Thames Diamond Jubilee Pageant

As part of the Diamond jubilee celebrations. 4 cadets of Chiswick unit joined cadets from 54 other Sea Cadet units to take part in the river pageant. We took our Trinity 500 "Black Pearl" down river from Putney to Greenwich, saluting HRH along the way. Despite the awful weather, all four cadets said it was a 'once in a lifetime' opportunity that they would not have missed.

If you look out for us, we are boat 44 flying the flag of Singapore.
