CELEBRATING ACHIEVEMENT

6 July 2021

What happens at Sea Cadets when you put a huge amount of commitment and effort in? You get rewarded and celebrated of course!

Junior Cadets Oliver and Felix have worked tremendously hard since joining the Unit, continuously going the extra mile during time away from the Unit because of flooding, and via virtual sessions during Lockdowns, as well as face to face lessons.

Last night they were both promoted to the highest rank within Juniors. It is with great pleasure and pride that I introduce Leading Junior Cadets Oliver and Felix! 🎉🎉🎉

Well done to both of you and, as I said in my letter of recommendation to the CO, you both personify the Sea Cadet values of courage, commitment, discipline, respect, loyalty and honesty and integrity. Wear your new rank with pride!

June Announcements

👀 Well, what a week it's been! 👀

🎉🎉 Sea Cadets had its 165th birthday, our Unit was visited by the Area Officer (who congratulated us on all our hard work and loved seeing the Cadets having fun) and three of our Royal Marine Cadets achieved their advancement boards! 🎉🎉

In order to achieve their advancement the RMC Cadets needed to fulfil stringent assessment criteria conducted over 16 field craft and map reading subjects, drill, Royal Navy and Royal Marines General Knowledge and History.

A huge amount of effort from newly promoted Corporal Oliver (now the most senior Cadet at the Unit!) and Lance Corporals Olly and Martin, as well as from our RMC instructors Sgts Barrington and Walker - congratulations all round! 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻

"A great achievement in these testing times, as capacity for training has been limited over the last 12 months. A fantastic effort by all." RMC Detachment Commander, Sgt Barrington.

Staff Spotlight

Staff Spotlight

It takes a lot of work, behind the scenes, to run our Unit and offer all the opportunities to our cadets. Staff volunteers are always going the extra mile and we are celebrating that today!

Firstly, a huge well done to Sgt Walker who has qualified as a rowing instructor after passing the course this weekend - fantastic effort!

Secondly, after a huge amount of work and many assessments, we have two shiny new officers on board! CPO Edwards and PO Priestland have both recently been promoted to the rank of Sub Lieutenant. Sirs and salutes all round!

Royal British Legion anniversary

Royal British Legion anniversary

Today is the anniversary of the Royal British Legion, who have dedicated the last 100 years to supporting ex-servicemen and women, and marks 100 years of the Poppy. One of our Junior Cadets, Able Junior Cadet Felix, attended a commemoration service in his village and took the salute with local veterans. BZ!
