We have used Daley Electrical for all our electrical needs over 5 years now and have found Paul and his team to be very professional, reliable, friendly and super efficient as well as being very reasonably priced.
 

Daley Electrical recently carried out our 5 year electrical safety inspection and whilst on site upgraded and added additional outside lighting to the parade ground. This was much needed so that the cadets could make good use of the outside space as the darker evenings draw in and also adds extra security measures to the parade ground. .

This was all made possible through grants and other funding for our phase 2 essential maintenance project with a large amount of the funding coming from the MS-SC Annual Premises Fund.

Former Avonmouth Cadet Sam Booker recently came to the aid of a work colleague who had cut themself and fainted at the site of the blood.

Sam used the valuable First Aid skills he had learnt as a Sea Cadet to help his colleague. Sam said, "being a Sea Cadet has given me the knowledge and confidence to use the First Aid skills I was taught. I am very grateful that I was able to use those skills to help my colleague during this minor incident".

It is always great to see vital skills, such as First Aid, being used in action to great effect. It is one of the many qualifications and life skills that can be gained through being a Sea Cadet or Volunteer.

Lt Simon Marr RN has returned to Avonmouth Sea Cadets as staff after 10 years. Since leaving the unit in 2010, Simon has joined the Royal Navy as a Pilot and Air Engineer Officer. We hope having him back onboard means we can use his STEM and naval experiences to good use with the cadets. “Sea Cadets introduced me mountaineering, water sports and laid the foundations of the Naval Officer I am today. I’m honoured to have the opportunity to give something back to the Unit”, he said. He has been working with the Junior Cadets initially and will soon be assisting with the Senior Cadets.

We are now the proud owners of a very watertight new flat roof! A very big thank you to County Flat Roofing (UK) Ltd for such a great job and all round great service.

Obviously we would never have been able to complete this essential maintenance project without obtaining grants. This project was funded through Covid Grants and the Annual Premises Fund from MS-SC and will see the building weathertight for many years to come enabling us to provide the best possible cadet experience we can offer.

Following our annual inspection earlier this year, the Unit has been awarded the highest award of a Burgee.

The inspection includes all matters of health & safety, admin, welfare & safeguarding, qualifications achieved and overall experience.
