VISITOR FROM SOUTH AFRICA

Lt Cdr Glenn von Zeil, an officer in the South African Naval Reserve, who is also the Training Officer at TS Woltemade, in Lakeside, Cape Town, South Africa paid the unit a visit and presented a plaque from TS Woltemade. During his stay in Aberystwyth he gave a presentation about what its like to be a cadet in South Africa which was very well accepted by all who attended.

RETIREMENT

RETIREMENT

 Lt.Cdr.(SCC) Allen Carr RNR has just retired after a lifetime of commitment to Sea Cadets. Having joined as a cadet in 1957 he quickly rose through the ranks and during his adult career held various senior positions at Area, District and local level.
Aberystwyth Unit Chairman Lt Cdr Peter Norrington- Davies RN presented Allen with a signed certificate from the Captain of Sea Cadets and an inscribed miniature RN sword on behalf of all at TS Cardigan Bay.
We wish Allen a long and healthy retirement and look forward to his support and expertise on the UMC

We have just become the proud custodians of a superb model of HMS Hood, the model was kindly donated by Mr Aubrey Hollister who took over 3 years to complete this fantastic piece. Accompanying this model is a complete history of HMS Hood and also step by step instructions on how this model was put together

Ex- Cadet Sean Button, now a fully qualified Royal Marine paid a visit to the unit and did a presentation, complete with video, of his troop going through basic training. A mixed class were highly impressed and also amazed at the weight of the kit (for those cadets who lifted it) that Sean had to carry.
