In the last month Torfaen has seen six of our cadets go to sea for a week on the TS John Jerwood & TS Royalist who form part of the Sea Cadets offshore fleet. Theses trips are without doubt the pinnacle of Sea Cadet training where the cadets operate the ships out in the open water and across the channel to France, Belgium as well as the Isle of Wight and the Channel Islands.

TS John Jerwood is one of the Sea Cadets two offshore Power vessels launched in 2002 but TS Royalist, the offshore Sailing Brig (Tall ship) has only just seen the water this year having succeeded the previous ship which was retired after a long career training cadets and adults alike.

All of the cadets who took part had an amazing time onboard and are already planning a second voyage.
