Cadets trek north of the border

The end of July saw us once again travel up to HMS Caledonia for our summer holidays! 24 Cadets and Staff took the 6 hour drive north to visit the SCTC, something we have done annually for 11 years now. The week saw cadets achieve qualifications in Sailing, Power boating and Windsurfing and even saw some of the staff gain qualifications in those areas too! it was a thoroughly enjoyable week with all of the Cadets looking forward to next years visit already!!

Cadets' walk for Duke of Edinburgh

At the beginning of one of the warmest weeks in July, 11 of our cadets travelled to the Lake District to carry out their Silver DofE Expedition. The 11 Cadets enjoyed the fresh air, wonderful views and the hospitality of Kendal unit on their boating evening. A big thank you goes to the Staff who supervised, as well as the ASO DofE who was so accommodating to our timetable.

Cdt Cpl Marshall rubs shoulders with Royalty!

As part of his official duties as the Lord Lieutenants Cadet, Cpl Marshall attended an event at the National Memorial Arboretum to unveil a new memorial for the Duke of Lancaster regiment.

The colonel in chief was in attendance, who just happens to be Her Majesty the Queen! Cpl Marshall has attended many events in his duties so far and he is getting the opportunity to meet some very important and inspirational people

Keep up the good work Cpl!

Girls sink opposition

The cadets from the mighty T.S Superb travelled up to Doddington on the 18th June to take part in the district rowing regatta and came back with a haul of medals!

The female open team came away with the gold medal after a bit of a shaky start. They are now going forward to area to represent the District later in July. unfortunately, the male team came away with the second place medals, they wont go on to represent District but they did a brilliant job of representing our unit!

Well done to all the teams and good luck to the female team at Area!

OIC and 1st Lieutenant swim the lakes!

Lt (SCC) Townsend RMR and Sgt (SCC) Folland travelled to the lake district at the start of June to take part in the annual Great North Swim to raise money for the unit.

The swim took place in the rather idyllic setting of lake Windermere and involved swimming a mile in open water. other swims taking place were the 2 mile swim, a 5k swim and a 10k swim. both completed the swim in around 40 minutes which is fairly respectable considering it was the OIC's first time taking part in the event!
