Budding Chefs and Stewards hold catering event

thanks to some of the District staff, the culmination of several weeks of lessons and practice led to cadets from our unit achieving their basic catering and stewarding qualifications.

the cadets hosted a fantastic event, serving brilliant homemade food to the staff from the unit.

Thanks to S/Lt Bostock who took time out to come to our unit to assess the cadets

 

RM Cadets drill team experience Nationals!

For the first time since our detachment opened 10 years ago, we had a team represent us, Chestaffs district, North West Area and Bravo Company at the National drill competition at HMS RALEIGH, the home of the Royal Navy.

The standard of drill was incredible and although we didn't win, the cadets were not far from the mark and the squad commander did a fantastic job of dealing with the pressure.

I hope that next year the cadets are as enthusiastic about entering

 

Our newest Lord Lieutenants Cadet

Following on from the success of Cpl Marshall as the Lord Lieutenants cadet for Staffordshire, we nominated Cpl Hankin to take his place when the nominations for 2017/18 opened.

with Cpl Hankin being so active within the unit, district and area, it was easy to nominate him for this prestigious role and we are sure that he will portray the SCC as a whole in a fantastic light

 

MC1 Wallace joins the RFA

It has been a few years since we had a cadet join the armed forces and around 20 years since we had a cadet join the Royal Fleet Auxillary. After attending a careers talk hosted at the unit early in 2016 MC1 Wallace decided that she fancied a life at sea, but in a different setting to that of the Royal Navy!

we wish her well in her training and hope she becomes an excellent chef as well as a sailor!

 

RMC Weekend

We hosted our first RMC weekend of the year at Swynnerton army camp. the new recruits to the unit were taught the information required for their subsequent promotion to RM Cadet and some cadets were successful in achieveing promotion to MC2.

the weekend included a trip to flip out which is a trampoline park where any remaining energy was extracted from all who attended
