London Marathon

London Marathon

No doubt everyone has heard of the London Marathon but did you know that Southwark Sea Cadets have assisted at various water stations since its inception in 1980. And this year was no exception with TS Cossack cadets being one of a number of London Southern SCC units helping at the Quebec Way 9 mile station. There will be special interest in the 2012 event with PO George Whitfield running (or walking) and looking for sponsorship. Be there on Sunday 22 April 2012 to cheer him on with the wet sponges.

Off to the Welsh Harp

Off to the Welsh Harp

A combined team of 6 cadets from Southwark and neighbouring unit City of London took part in the London Area 24 hour sailing competition. While the 2010 event was rained off after 12 hours this years competition ran the full 24 hours with Leading cadet Callum Malone pushing hard and a good 4th position at 09:00 on the Sunday morning. The Welsh Harp or Brent Reservoir is a 170 hectare of open water, marshes, trees and grassland less than 10 miles from the centre of London.
