A small number of cadets and staff when bag backing at the ASDA store in Totton. After three hours of packing many bags and trolleys the final total was counted and checked. The cadets raised a total of £364.88 towards new boating and band equipment.

When thrown a last minute request for support from the Seafarers Uk charity, L/C Clifford-Smith braved the elements in Southampton City Centre to support the charity and their aims that day.

Duke of Edinburgh Award

Eight cadets from the Unit formed two expedition teams that spent the weekend, 23 & 24th June walking in the New Forest with the aim of completing the Expedition section of the Bronze Award. A full day was spent walking on Saturday with each team covering approximately 17 km, carrying everything they needed for their overnight stop under canvas. The overnight stop was subject to some heavy rain, but the weather on Sunday cleared to give a fine end to the expedition and the final 7 km walk.

All of the cadets completed the Expedition Section of the Award sucessfully, well done to all

 

Master Mariner's Shipping Festival

Master Mariner's Shipping Festival

Thirteen cadets from the unit supported the Southampton Master Mariner's Club at their Annual Shipping Festival held in Winchester Catherdral.

The cadets carried the house flags of many merchant shipping companies. The cadets welcomed Dame Mary Fagin, Lord Lieutenant of Hampshire forming a Guard of Honour inside the catherdral. Due to the inclemant weather the parade was held entirely inside the Cathedral. The cadets were impressive and the Master Mariners appreciate the support from the cadets every year.

Five cadets from Southampton competed against seven other teams from around Southern Area at the Area Colour Party Competition at HMS Sultan

The competition was of a high standard, but the cadets from the unit, WON and go on to represent the Unit / District and area at the National Competition in Plymouth at the end of April

CPO (SCC) Anabella Pearce commented' The cadets worked so hard and put the effort in, which has shown in the result'
