HMS Cavalier visit 23-04-16

HMS CAVALIER VISIT

On 23rd April 2016 we were invited to visit HMS Cavalier in the Historic Dockyard Chatham. An early start and a long day ahead for 40 Cadets and 12 Adults mostly uniformed staff.

Their day was spent learning how to make a boat and how ropes are made.

They all enjoyed the visit though the day did not finish until late.

Junior Cadet Activity Day 17-04-16

On Sunday 17th April we took the Junior Sea Cadets outdoors in Beaudesert Scout Camp near Rugeley.

They're having fun with some team building exercises.

At the time of this news item they had just finished the crate climbing challenge and now onto air rifle target shooting and the monkey tree climb later.

1st Aid & CIS intermediary 09-10/04/16

This weekend we have 14 cadets on the Warwickshire District Sea Cadets MACT doing First Aid Intermediate and CIS Radio Intermediate.

We also have 5 cadets finishing their 3rd Class Marine Engineering at the unit this weekend.

easter egg hunt 2016

On 25th March 2016 the Junior Sea Cadets had an Easter themed evening

They made Easter baskets and chocolate nests.

Followed by a team led Easter egg hunt around the unit.

They were split into 4 teams and team 3 were victorious in finding 21 of the 60 eggs hidden in some very interesting places.

Well done to all of them that took part this evening.

Devizes to Westminster Kayak Race 25-03-16 to...

APO Ryan Marland took part in the International Kayak Race for the 4 days over Easter 2016.

Day 1 35 miles and 34 portages completed in 6 hours and 30 minutes.

Day 2 36 miles and had 29 portages in 6 hours 19 minutes.

Day 3 37 miles in 6 hours 18 minutes.

Day 4 DW decided last night it was too dangerous for the kayakers on the tidal Thames today so have cancelled the remainder of the race.

Oh well let’s hope the weather is better next year! Roll on Easter 2017 when APO Marland will again take part.
