Competition time for Norwich

Competition time for Norwich

It’s that time of year again when we’re out on the water again competing against other units from East Anglia District.

Thankfully we have enjoyed some fabulous weather over the competition weekends which definitely helps. We did well at all of the competitions returning with trophies and certificates, and here is how we got on:

Sailing Regatta

Bosun: 2nd place
Topper: 2nd place
Pico: 3rd place

Well done to all of the sailors, there were some very challenging conditions with very little wind to start the day so this was a great effort, good luck for the Area competition in early June!

Canoeing Regatta

Open Boys: Joint 1st with Ipswich and Beccles
Open Girls: 2nd place, congratulations to AC Jessica Perry who gained this all by herself
Junior Boys: 1st place
Overall: 2nd place

A good result from a small Unit team at the Canoe Regatta, everyone worked hard and put in a lot of effort to come up with some good results. We are hoping to get some more cadets qualified this year in order to put in a bigger team next year. Well done all!

Combined Regatta

Pulling Boat Handling: 1st place
Sail Boat Handling: 1st place

A big congratulations to the boat handling teams. Both crews were new to the competition so this is a fantastic result and the first time we have entered the sailing competition for as long as I can remember!

We had some very very windy conditions to contend with but you all acted and reacted well to the conditions that you were faced with.

Open Boys: 3rd place
Open Girls: 3rd place
Junior Boys: 2nd place

All of the pulling teams did really well in some extremely windy conditions, well done to all of the teams and those who acted as coxswain for the teams as well.

A good effort by all with the boating competitions this year, and we look forward to taking some of the cadets to the Area events across the summer months.

BZ all

The fantastic... 5?

The fantastic... 5?

Need a reason why TS Lord Nelson can be claimed to be a high achieving unit? I'll give you five...

Following the Unit's annual inspection TS Lord Nelson have been awarded their 5th consecutive burgee . The award is comprised of several catergories such as; cadets attendence figures, cadet numbers and how much qualifications gained over the year. The award signifies that TS Lord Nelson are still a highly successful unit which ticks all the right boxes, but most importantly rewards cadets and staff alike for all the hard work throughout the year so far. BZ to all and here's to number 6!
