District Piping Winners

As well as entering a squad for the unarmed drill, the unit also entered a squad of three into the Piping competition. this tests the Cadets ability to perform different Pipes as part of a team with their Boatswains Calls. The team did very well and came joint first with Beccles unit.

Well done to the cadets hard work in the many hours of practicing, and to PO Hunt for teaching and making sure they were ready for the Competition.

Bravo Zulu to all.

District Drill Winners!

District Drill Winners!

This year the unit once again participated in the annual District Drill and Piping Competition, the unit entered a squad of 9 Cadets into the drill competition that was held on the 14th December 2014. We entered into the unarmed category which is a drill display to be completed in a certain amount of time. The Cadets are scored on their Uniform, their overall effort and their Drill skills. This meant that the Cadets and Staff had to give up their nights and some weekends to train for the competition. The training took two months and many hours to get the display perfected, but in the end it all payed off as on the day we were the best drill team out there and picked up the trophy for best unarmed squad. This means that we are off to area Drill to Compete against the best drill teams in the whole of the Eastern side of the UK.

Thanks go to the 9 Cadets for all of their hard work and to CPO Massen and APO Massen for teaching the squad and making sure they were ready to go to the Competition.

Bravo Zulu to all.

We are supporting the Poppy Appeal

We are supporting the Poppy Appeal

We once again supported the Poppy Appeal this year in a unique way, we decided that in support of the poopy appeal we would decorate the ship, so for the month of October and November the ship was decorated with lots of poppies, this proved to be a big hit with the community. In addition to this we helped the Royal British Legion by selling Poppies at a local supermarket raising well over £500 for such a great cause.

Norwich Unit is proud to support the Royal British Legion and the Poppy Appeal.

Norwich Unit has once again been awarded the top award of an Burgee. these are given to units who perform very well throughout the year and achieve great results at their Royal Naval Inspection. this is a great achievement for the unit and this adds to the growing number of burgees we have been awarded in the last few years. we have currently been awarded a burgee 4 years in a row!

Bravo Zulu to all staff, cadets and everyone else for your hard work in achieving this.
