UNIT BOATING WEEKEND

UNIT BOATING WEEKEND

We had a fantastic fun filled weekend at the Derwenthaugh Regional Boat Station over the weekend of the 19th - 21st September 2014.  The cadets had a range of different activities over the weekend.  A number of cadets also achieved their first RYA Power Boat Qualification.  On Sunday we had a trip to the Sunderland Aquatic Centre where the cadets had a 'splashing' time. Thank you to everyone that helped over the weekend and to those that donate to our unit to allow us to carry out these essential training weekends.

BE AT THE HEART OF IT - VOLUNTEER WITH...

Newcastle East Sea Cadets need the help of people like you - volunteers who are happy to roll up their sleeves, get involved and potentially make a difference to the lives of so many young people from our region.

We have lots of roles to match your skills from working directly with cadets and giving them a head start in life as you guide them through the training we do. Alternatively from behind the scenes, by using your practical business skills and common sense to help shape Newcastle East Sea Cadets as part of the Unit Management Team. Training and support will be provided to help you.

As a volunteer member of Newcastle East Sea Cadets you will gain a sense of personal achievement, invest in your local community, meet new people, make new friends, become part of a team which supports young people and create the opportunity to bolster your CV.

To find out more, please pop in to the Unit on any parade night and chat to us.

BAG PACK RAISES VITAL FUNDS FOR SEA CADETS

BAG PACK RAISES VITAL FUNDS FOR SEA CADETS

At a recent bag pack held on the 5th July 2014 at Morrison’s, Byker our unit was overwhelmed by the support from not only the staff at the store but the generous donations from its customers.

Commanding Officer, Petty Officer (SCC) Martin Galloway said afterwards; we managed to raise over £600 on the day, this is a fantastic effort by our young people and the adult volunteers who support the unit. The money raised will be used to fund training opportunities throughout the year, including a boating weekend in September.

On behalf of everyone here at Newcastle East Sea Cadets, thank you for supporting us.

TYNEMOUTH FOOD FESTIVAL 2014

TYNEMOUTH FOOD FESTIVAL 2014

On 10th & 11th May 2014, we were the only uniformed youth group to support the Tynemouth Food Festival. We were delighted to have been asked because it is such a prestigious event in the local community, and people travel from far and wide to attend - all set in the historic Tynemouth Priory. Despite a couple of showers, there were thousands of people there and we ensured the smooth running of the event by checking pre paid tickets, selling tickets on the door, issuing wristbands and handing out the free brochures....as well as enjoying some delicious food! We have been bombarded with positive feedback about our cadets, and have managed to recruit some more young people as a result. Thank you to the event organisers for inviting us, the stall holders for making us feel so welcome, our volunteers and finally to our cadets and those from Whitley Bay and Newburn who all worked so hard - we'll see you next year!

ROYAL MARINES TEST LEADERSHIP SKILLS

ROYAL MARINES TEST LEADERSHIP SKILLS

On Wednesday 30 April 2014, we were really fortunate to be able to visit the Royal Marine Visibility Team at Whitley Bay Sea Cadets. The Royal Marine Commandos put us through our paces with a variety of team building exercises, we were fortunate enough to join in the fun with the Whitley Bay unit. It could not have been further from a normal parade night! Thank you to the Royal Marines for their visit.
