SPLASH AND DIVE AS SEA CADETS TAKE PART IN A...

On Monday 24th June 2013 Cadets from Newcastle East Unit took part in a Try Dive at Whitley Bay Diving Centre.  The cadets aged 12 and over had a fantastic time at the centre, they learned the basic working off the equipment before going diving.

In the Sea Cadets its all about TRUST in some activities and it certainly was on this occasion.  Dive is a risky hobbie and takes alot trusting in your kit.  The Cadets soon learned that the equipment is trustworthy and they were never seen on the top of the water much.

A great night had by all and one which we will repeat in the future.

Chaplain (SCC) Diana Mcnaughton RNR was appointed the Unit Chaplain earlier this year and does an excellent job at supporting the Unit.

CHRISTMAS FAYRE A GREAT SUCCESS

CHRISTMAS FAYRE A GREAT SUCCESS

Newcastle East Sea Cadets held their annual Christmas Fayre on Wednesday 12th December 2012 to help raise vital funds towards the unit. The Cadets sold Christmas goods and sang good traditional songs, parents all participated in the singing as enjoying warmed mulled wine, lots of chocolate and mince pies.

We raised a fantastic £400 which is a fantastic achievement!  A big thank you must go out to our Parent and Supporter Assocation Chairperson, Ms Rahela Iqbal, for her huge part in organising the event and to our cadets and supporters who helped on the night.

NEWCASTLE EAST CADETS GO OFFSHORE WITH T.S....

Two of our cadets participated in an offshore voyage in November 2012. Cadet Johnston and Cadet McDonald embarked on a week long voyage visiting places that they had never been to before including Cowes, Isle of Wight, Poole, Dorset and Portsmouth, Hampshire.  They learned how to steer the vessel, Cook, Navigate and what to do in an Emergency.

Both Cadets gained Offshore Power Level 1 Certificates, well done.
