ROYAL BRITISH LEGION POPPY APPEAL AT THEATRE...

ROYAL BRITISH LEGION POPPY APPEAL AT THEATRE...

From 19 - 23 May 2015, we were invited to Newcastle's Theatre Royal helping the Royal British Legion with their Poppy Appeal. Usually this is something we do in November but the theatre was showing the WWII inspired film "The Boy in the Striped Pyjamas, originally a book by John Boyne.  In total we helped to raise £711.90 which is fantastic. Thank you to those cadets and our adult volunteers who so readily gave up their time.

We are pictured here with one of our Royal British Legion friends.

HMS OCEAN TRIP

HMS OCEAN TRIP

We were offered a once in a lifetime experience in May 2015 and were given the opportunity to spend 1 week on HMS Ocean as it sailed around parts of the UK. It was fantastic to spend time on Britain's biggest warship and it even has its own helicopter and landing pad! Our thanks go to the crew for making us feel so welcome and teaching us all there is to know about life onboard.

TYNEMOUTH FOOD FESTIVAL 2015

TYNEMOUTH FOOD FESTIVAL 2015

Over the weekend of 9th and 10th May 2015, we helped out at the prestigious Tynemouth Food Festival in the historic grounds of The Priory. We were there with lots of cadets from other units and responsible for queue management, calculating the entry fee, taking money, giving change, handing out brochures, issuing and checking wristbands, processing pre-paid tickets and giving out our flags and stickers - all very responsible jobs. The Sea Cadet band were there who officially opened the event and some of our junior cadets took part in displays.

13,000 people attended the event and the feedback from them, the organisers and stall holders has been fantastic. Thank you for having us and we look forward to helping you next year!

NEW PARENTS EVENING

NEW PARENTS EVENING

On 13 May 2015, we hosted an introduction to Newcastle East Sea Cadet for the parents and guardians of prospective cadets. It was an opportunity to find out what we are all about, the types of activities and adventure on offer and the qualifications our cadets can gain. As a result we were joined by 17 new cadets that evening and we still have room for a few more! Our thanks go to the Area Officer, Captain Peter Adams and the Norhtern Area Business Manager Stuart Dell who came all the way from our Area Office in Rosyth especially for the occasion.
