Yesterday, our District Officer, Lt Cdr Robbins, and our Unit Officer in Charge, Sub Lt Green, accompanied LCpl Madison to Dover Castle, where she officially received her appointment as one of the Lord Warden’s Cadets for 2026. It was also lovely to meet Able Cadet Amber from Hastings Sea Cadets who will represent Sussex District as Lord Warden’s cadet.
The appointments were presented at Constable Tower by Admiral Sir George Zambellas, the current Lord Warden of the Cinque Ports, followed by a private, very informative historical tour of the grounds.
The office of the Lord Warden of the Cinque Ports is one of the oldest ceremonial appointments in the United Kingdom, dating back more than 800 years. Originally responsible for defending England’s south-east coastline and overseeing the historic Cinque Ports, the role today continues as a distinguished honorary appointment, representing the region’s rich maritime heritage.
Being selected as a Lord Warden Cadet is a tremendous honour, recognising exceptional commitment, leadership, professionalism and dedication to the Sea Cadet Corps.
Throughout 2026, Madison and Amber will have the privilege of accompanying Admiral Sir George Zambellas at ceremonial engagements across the Cinque Ports, proudly representing their units, East Kent District, Sussex District, and the Sea Cadet Corps.
This is an outstanding achievement and a reflection of the hard work, enthusiasm and dedication both cadets have shown throughout their Sea Cadet journey.
Congratulations to LCpl Madison and AC Amber on this well deserved honour. You should both be incredibly proud of your achievements and continue doing your units and Districts proud.
