30th - 2nd October 2011
The Cambs and Beds District promotions board for Petty Officer Cadet and Leading Cadet was held at Cambridge unit over the weekenend of 30th September to 2nd October. Whilst on this occasion, Luton Unit was unable to field an promotions candidates, three cadets from the unit's Royal Marines Cadet detachment took part in the concurrent shooting activities over the weekend. MC2s Daniel Loveland, Joe Matthews, and Camden Nightengale represented the unit, getting the opportunity to hone their marksmanship skills. MC2 Loveland achieved the highest score of the weekend, beating off competition from cadets from Dunstable, Cambridge, Bedford, Biggleswade and Ampthil and Flitwick, with MC2 Nightengale closely following a single point behind. These are the first marksmanship badges gained in the unit for several years and we are delighted that shooting is returning to the unit.
