HMS TRINCOMALEE & RNLI HARTLEPOOL VISIT

HMS TRINCOMALEE & RNLI HARTLEPOOL VISIT

Over the weekend of 28 July 2014, we enjoyed a visit to HMS Trincomalee and the RNLI station at Hartlepool Marina. Cadets were shown around the lifeboats and learned about rescue techniques and the boats used by the RNLI. We then enjoyed being onboard HMS Trincomalee, a restored Leda class Frigate dating back to Napoleonic days. Cadets got to walk around the ship and see what life was like in the Royal Navy back in the days of sail.

BURGEE 2014

BURGEE 2014

Hebburn and Sunderland Cadets can proudly announce we have been awarded with a burgee for 2014. This is only ever awarded to Sea Cadet units who demonstrate outstanding performance across a variety of disciplines over the course of the last 12 months, and it means our Unit is one of the best performing units in the UK.

Officer in Charge, Chief Petty Officer Derek Brown RNR said, "We are thrilled at this honour and being awarded with a burgee represents the hard work of our instructors, all of whom are volunteers. We are a vibrant, friendly unit and whilst there is always room for improvement, this recognition demonstrates that we give the "cadet experience" which is to give young people from our region a head start in life through nautical adventure and fun".
