Day Out on the Canal

Day Out on the Canal

On Thursday 31st July 2014 six of our Juniors enjoyed a lovely day on the local Canal.

The Cadets were welcomed on board the narrow boat by our Unit Padre, Rev Rob Barker who gave them a very important safety brief followed by a small tour of the vessel.  During the day the Junior Cadets had the opportunity to take part in different tasks such as taking the helm (steering) and other crew tasks.  The day was enjoyed by all who attended and plans are already taking shape for the next trip to allow other members of our Junior Division to take part.

Thanks go to all Staff who assisted on the day and a special thanks to Helene Devey, Training & Development Worker, North West Area Sea Cadets for taking the time to attend and talk to our Cadets

Junior Cadets Rewarded

Junior Cadets Rewarded

On Tuesday 22nd April, the Junior Division of Ellesmere Port Sea Cadets held a small awards evening at the end of their general training to reward a number of cadets who had gained qualifications. These qualifications ranged from promotion, RYA Boating to Module awards. The module awards are aimed to promote leadership and team work as well as teaching the new members about the Sea Cadet Corps and its core values, providing them with the catalyst to go further within the organisation. This then transfers into the promotions where the cadet takes what they have learnt in their modules and are able to put it into practice as they are given responsibility over other cadets. Finally the RYA Boating qualifications are nationally recognised qualifications which help the cadets when they enter into the world of work.

The following cadets gained the following qualifications:

C. Ainlise: 1 Star (Promotion) Red Module, Blue Module, RYA Power Boating Level 1
J Cavanagh: 1 Star (Promotion) RYA Power Boating Level 1
M Davies: 1 Star (Promotion) Red Module
E McKevitt: Yellow Module, RYA Sail Taster Certificate

We are extremely proud of our Junior Cadets and the Commanding Officer P.O. (SCC) A Ainslie and OIC Juniors P.O (SCC) R. Clay would like to congratulation them on behalf of the ships company of T.S. Forward.
