Cadets Get Offshore Experience

Cadets Get Offshore Experience

Five T.S. Forward cadets recently spent a week offshore gaining sea going experience onboard the sailing vessel T.S. City Liveryman, from Largs to Holyhead. The cadets gained both day and nighttime sailing experience whilst on watch keeping a lookout and where responsible for the general running of the vessel. This was all made possible because of a £200 bursary ensuring the cadets gained their RYA Competent crew, as well as RYA Offshore hand level 2.

Community Fete Recruiting Day

The Team from TS Forward attended a local community fete on the 14th August 2013. During the day the Cadets and Staff got involved with the other community organisations and had lots of fun. TS Forward displayed thier new recruiting stand and engaged with lots of young local people showing them what they are all about. The Cadets from TS Forward shared thier own Sea Cadet experiences with others and encouraged them to come and join them.

Ellesmere Port Sea Cadets (EPSCC) recently assisted the Chester PHAB charity during a bag pack at M&S Cheshire Oaks, vital funds where raised for both EPSCC and PHAB. The cadets did their unit proud and all at EPSCC are proud of their hard work within the community. The bag pack also counted towards some cadets Duke of Edinburgh scheme, and we wish them luck as they complete the rest of the course.

North West Area Sailing Regatta

On Saturday 20th July three members of T.S. Forward entered into the North West Area Regatta. Two entered into the Bosun class with one cadet entering the Pico Class, the cadets worked hard and battled changing wind conditions to represent their unit. Although neither team finished in a podium position we are all proud of their efforts, and we look forward to seeing them excel in next years competition.

On Wednesday the 17th July we held our annual cocktail party at the Duke of Westminster’s Estate. The evening was a huge success raising vital funds for the unit with a raffle and auction, with prizes kindly donated by friends and family of the ships company. The evening was opened by a Champaign reception and a performance by the band. The guests then moved indoors as they enjoyed presentations from members of the T.S. Forward staff, along with cocktails and canopies. T.S. Forward would like to thank all those who attended and all those who made the evening a success.
