Royal British Legion Affiliation

Royal British Legion Affiliation

Tonight members of the Ships Company attend a ceremony at Royal British Legion Mickleover Club Ltd to confirm our affiliation to the RBL.

The cadets themselves were presented with RBL affiliation badges as a keepsake of the occasion. Our cadets looked smart and seamanlike throughout the presentation and did the unit proud.

The crew were also witness to the presentation of 3 Armed Forces Covenant Gold Awards 🏅🏆

Special thanks to Major Bruce Spencer (East Midlands Reserve Forces & Cadets Association & President of Mickleover RBL), and Colonel John Wilson OBE DL (Derbyshire Vice Lord-Lieutenant) for a memorable evening.

2022 Annual Awards

2022 Annual Awards

What a year we've had! This past 12 months TS KENYA has had a fantastic run. We've achieved over 150 Cadet Qualifications, attended over 100 courses, gained over 50 adult volunteer qualifications, awarded 22 cadet promotions, attended 13 offshore voyages, and have been awarded a Pennant for a 74% Efficiency rating (aka "Good"). 👏👏👏

At our annual awards night we celebrated the successes of our inspirational young people and volunteers. We are very thankful to Councillor Robin Wood, Mayor of Derby, for attending as our VIP to present the awards and certificates to the ships company. The evening was also our Q4 CO's Divisions and saw a number of qualifications and promotions awarded🏅🏆

We're looking forward to going above and beyond in 2023 with am aim to achieve a rating of Very Good and be awarded a Burgee, and we hope you join us in making this goal a success.

Our Officer-in-Charge, Sub Lieutenant Gareth Edwards, said "I'm extremely proud of our cadets. They have achieved a monumental amount in the face of post-COVID adversity, and have truly embodied the core values of the Sea Cadet Corps. I would like to wish all our cadets, adult volunteers, and supporters a very Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year and thank them for all they do to support a quality cadet experience at TS KENYA" ☃️🌟🎅🎄

REMEMBRANCE CEREMONIES 2022

REMEMBRANCE CEREMONIES 2022

Well done to the cadets who today represented Derby Sea Cadets , Sea Cadets , and the Royal Navy in not one, but TWO remembrance parades in Derby.

One contingent of cadets lead by Sgt Henley and our previous CO Capt Fuller provided a guard for the parade held at the War Memorial Village Derby

The other half of the ships company took part in the main parade in Derby City Center lead by the CO, along with PO's Duffy and Lunn.

All of our cadets did us proud, looked incredibly smart, and upheld the highest standards of the Sea Cadets and Royal Navy.
