🚀 ENGINE STARTED! 🔧

Tonight our cadets got stuck into their first taste of engineering – and what a cracking start it was!

Led by the ever-patient and always brilliant PO Hartup, each group took on the challenge of building a four-piston engine. And they smashed it! Proper teamwork, focus, and a whole lot of learning.

We've definitely got a few future engineers in the ranks… and a few who might want to stick to map reading instead 😂

Well done to all involved – top effort! 💪⚙️

A massive well done to our cadet and instructor who are proudly representing Castleford Sea Cadets today at the Armed Forces Day event in Wakefield, parading with Wakefield Sea Cadets

It’s always great to see our young people getting stuck in, showing pride in their uniform and helping to shine a light on what the Sea Cadets is all about.

Have a brilliant day, enjoy the atmosphere, and thank you for being outstanding ambassadors for our unit 👏

Remember D Day, 81 years ago....

On June 6, 1944, more than 160,000 Allied troops landed along a 50-mile stretch of heavily-fortified French coastline, to fight Nazi Germany on the beaches of Normandy, France. Gen. Dwight D. Eisenhower called the operation a crusade in which, “we will accept nothing less than full victory.”

More than 5,000 Ships and 13,000 aircraft supported the D-Day invasion, and by day’s end, the Allies gained a foot-hold in Continental Europe. The cost in lives on D-Day was high. More than 9,000 Allied Soldiers were killed or wounded, but their sacrifice allowed more than 100,000 Soldiers to begin the slow, hard slog across Europe, to defeat Adolf Hitler’s crack troops.

Castleford Cadets Prepare for Annual Unit Review

Castleford Cadets Prepare for Annual Unit Review

Castleford Sea Cadets are proud to announce that our Annual Unit Review will take place on Friday 30th May 2025 — a key date in our calendar where we celebrate everything our cadets have achieved over the past year.

The evening will begin with a formal inspection by our visiting Inspection Officer, who will review our cadets on parade and assess the unit’s performance, discipline, and standards.

Following the inspection, guests will have the chance to see what life is like as a Sea Cadet, with cadets showcasing their skills, experiences, and the wide range of activities and training they take part in during a typical parade night. From leadership and drill to boating, fieldcraft, and community engagement – it’s a great opportunity to see the impact Sea Cadets has on the lives of young people.

We are also delighted to welcome our sponsors and the families of our cadets to this special evening, as we highlight their journey and thank everyone who supports the unit throughout the year.

Arrival time: Please arrive at the unit between 18:30 and 18:45 ahead of the inspection.

We look forward to seeing you there and sharing the pride we have in our cadets and volunteers.
