Keel Laying of AGAMEMNON

Keel Laying of AGAMEMNON

On Thursday 18th July Cadets and Staff of Barrow Unit attended the AGAMEMNON Keel Laying Ceremony at BAE Systems. Cadets were joined by some of their district counterparts from Kendal. The Keel was laid by Philip Dunne MP, Secretary Of State for Defence Equipment and Technology. The unit now looks forward to the roll out  of the third Astute class submarine Artful.

The Civic Sunday parade, saw a procession of dignitaries snake its way along Barrow’s Duke Street after setting off from outside Barrow Town Hall.

A steady drum beat rang through the ears of those marching and walking behind the Barrow Sea Cadets, who led the way through the town centre.

On Tuesday 12th March the unit had its Royal Naval Parade and inspection by Cdr M Irwin RN who is the NW Area Officer.Thew results of the inspection were exeptional with the unit achieving the highest score in recent memory.
