Barrow Unit at National Regatta

Barrow Unit at National Regatta

Its a bit of a late update, but better late that never. On the 27th September 2013, 9 Cadets and 2 members of staff headed down to london to take part in the National Combined Regatta at the Royal Victoria Docks, 6 Cadets gor the rowing competition and 3 for the kayaking. All 9 of them had got to this competition by competing at both district and area level, so were more than deserving of their place. The competition ran all day saturday and was a huge success for the unit. Many of the kayakers came in 5th and 6th places, and the rowers came 4th place, in the UK!! Well Done to all the teams who started of with the competitions at district, but especially well done to these 9 Cadets who were:

CPL E Barrow

The Blue Jackets and Royal Marine Cadets attended their Summer Camp at Kingston upon Thames on 23rd August to 28th August. Whilst on the camp the unit visitied London taking in the sights, we also visited Portsmouth Dockyard namely the Mary Rose museum and HMS Warrior along with a harbour cruise. Finally we finished the camp off with a visit to Thorpe Park.

Juniors Summer Camp

The 2nd Annual Junior Summer Camp was held at the Sailing Centre from 5th to 9th August. This was a very busy week where the Juniors worked towards waterbourne qualifications, had a fun day which involved a trip out to the Dock Museum and an extra surprise arrived on Wednesday Morning in the form of an inflatable bouncy castle and an assault course which they thoroughly enjoyed.
