For Armed Forces Day 2022 we are in the Navy village. Come visit us! 


We are currently looking for new adult volunteers (CFAVs) that are keen and enthusiastic to develop young people using the ethos and traditions of the Royal Navy & Royal Marines.

At Plymouth (Drake) Sea and Royal Marine Cadets, we have three sections to our unit being; Junior Sea Cadets (10-12 year olds), Sea Cadets (12-18) as well as, a Royal Marines Cadet detachment (13-18).

We other opportunities to gain qualifications from recognised awarding bodies, such as; the Royal Yachting Association (RYA), British Rowing, British Canoeing, St Johns Ambulance and BTECs in addition to all our own proficiencies and specialisations all up to instructor levels.

We cover subjects from:

  • First Aid
  • Marine engineering
  • Navigation
  • Catering
  • Diving
  • Adventure training
  • Meteorology
  • Shooting
  • Aviation
  • Seamanship
  • Drill & Turnout
  • Fieldcraft (& Tactics)
  • Duke of Edinburgh's award

As well as inshore/Offshore boating which includes:

  • Rowing
  • Paddlesports
  • Dinghy sailing
  • Windsurfing
  • Powerboating
  • Opportunities to experience life at sea on one of the vessels that make up our Offshore fleet.

Commitment can be flexible depending on your circumstances. There is no requirement to become a uniformed volunteer (However, we encourage it!)

Armed Forces Week Flag Raise 2022

Today the unit attended Plymouth's Armed Forces Week Flag Raise outside the Guildhall. This marks the start of Armed Forces Week. 

AC Ben & OC Oliver were selected to be the cadets to raise the Armed Forces Day Flag on behalf of all the Cadet Forces within Plymouth. BZ! 

The event was attended by Members of the Armed Forces community including serving and Ex-Armed Forces as well as, cadets from the; Army Cadet Force (Devon ACF), Air Cadets (Plymouth & Cornwall ATC) and Voluntary Cadet Corps (Plymouth Division RMVCC).  

The Cadets were inspected and had short conversations with the Deputy Lord Mayor of Plymouth after the main ceremony had concluded.

This evening the CO was able to present 2 Cadets with badges after successful courses. 


CFC Isaac was presented badges for Cadet First Aid Intermediate. 


OC James was presented with badges for Cadet First Aid Intermediate as well as, Basic Marine Engineering.

On Tuesday the unit came together to mark and celebrate HM the Queen’s platinum Jubilee. 

Starting with colours, cadets received presentations of commemorative jubilee badges and specialisation badges before moving on to a whole unit celebration.

The celebrations included amazing hand made cakes baked by Able Cadet Ben, Pizza and more! 
 

The entire unit sends its heartfelt congratulations to our Patron on the occasion of this historic milestone.
