Presentations

28 March 2018

26/03/2018

Over the past few months of the beginning of the new year there have been a huge amount of presentations made to cadets and staff alike including specialisations, promotions, junior modules and competitions that the amount is far too great to list. By gaining promotions for themselves and the unit the cadets are allowing themselves to be recognised on a larger scale by other members of the corps.

These can all be gained at the unit or at courses away from the unit in the district, area or even nationally. The cadets do also offer offshore courses available to cadets all year round. To get the most out of the Sea Cadet experience and to help gain life skills and meet new friends we recommend that you attend courses not only in the unit but run outside as well. If you have any questions, please speak to the Training Officer (S/LT (SCC) Comer) who can be found in the Ships Office upstairs in the unit. He will always have all the information needed in order to be able to book onto courses and request things be put into the training within the unit.

District Drill competition 2018

8 March 2018

25/02/2018

On Sunday 25th February 2018 the Colour Party and junior cadet drill teams made the trip to Farnham Sea Cadet unit to compete in the annual district drill competition. Although the competition this year was tough the colour party managed to secure 4th place out of a total of 9 units in the districts whilst the junior drill team were able to secure first place in their competition as well as being able to gain the best junior squad commander award.

The colour party team consisted of A/C Cawsey as 1IC, A/C Gunner-Smith as guard 1, O/C Boast as guard 2, CFC Davey as standard bearer and CDT Cox as 2IC.

The Junior drill team consisted of junior cadets Cawthorne, Mckay, Cheung, Readon, Lopez and Murphy with CDT Hardy being squad commander.

Team manager of the colour party PO (SCC) J Rickwood said 'I'm very proud of how well all the cadets have performed and the dedication they have put into the competition. My thanks also go to all the staff, parents and supporters of the unit, without you none of this would happen.'

Junior squad team manager APO (SCC) Seal said 'I am extremely proud of how my team was able to perform on the day and overcome all obstacles leading up to the event'.

Robin Hood Pantomime at Woking Theatre

This past year for the Junior Sea Cadets end of year celebration we were lucky enough to be able to take them all to the pantomime of Robin Hood at the Woking theatre. We were able to get excellent seats as well as ice creams and souvenirs offered to the kids. The staff felt that this was a nice way for them to end the year and something that they will remember throughout their sea cadet experience. It is a chance for the younger cadets, much like the older cadets, to let their hair down and have a good socialise outside of the cadet environment where they are able to build their relationships that will last for their entire sea cadet career.
