SHOW SOME LOVE FOR MAGGIES

SHOW SOME LOVE FOR MAGGIES

In the run up to Valentines Day 2015, we were delighted to hear from Maggies Cancer Caring Centre in Newcastle who asked us to support their #showsomelove campaign again this year. Last year we made heart shaped biscuits for the centre users to enjoy, this year our Juniors made lavender scented heart shaped sachets to hang on the centre's coat hangers! They look and smell fantastic!

HMS DUNCAN TOUR

HMS DUNCAN TOUR

On 8 February 2015, we were very fortunate to have received an invite from the Commanding Officer of HMS Duncan to visit the ship whilst she berthed at Northumbria Quay in North Shields. This type 45 destroyer is the youngest in the fleet and a sister ship to HMS Dauntless which we were invited to tour earlier in the year. We were also astounded to hear that the Captain had himself been a Whitley Bay Sea Cadet too! We had a fantastic time and our thanks go to the staff at HMS Calliope for arranging it and the crew on HMS Duncan for their hospitality. More photographs can be found on our Facebook page.

EXAM SUCCESS FOR FIVE WHITLEY BAY SEA CADETS

EXAM SUCCESS FOR FIVE WHITLEY BAY SEA CADETS

During the weekend of 28-30 November 2014, five of our cadets sat their promotion boards and passed with credit passes - the highest possible mark. This means we now have two new Cadet Petty Officers and three new Leading Cadets. This is a terrific achievement and we are extremely proud of them all.

Whitley Bay Sea Cadets are proud to support the Winter Coat Amnesty, a North Tyneside based campaign which for four years has been re-gifting unwanted winter clothing to the region's homeless and vulnerably housed in the run up to Christmas. Our unit is one of over 50 donation stations across the North East and we will gladly accept clothing donations on any parade night up until Friday 5th December 2014.

For more information about the campaign, you can find their website here: www.wintercoatamnesty.blogspot.co.uk

WHITLEY BAY SEA CADETS WIN THE 2014 DISTRICT...

On Saturday 22 November 2014, we hosted the District Seamanship Competition and cadets from other units in the Northumberland District were pitched against each other as they tested and showed off their seamanship skills to an exceptionally high standard. We were delighted to have been declared the winning team - congratulations to the Whitley Bay Sea Cadets team and well done to everyone who took part.
