Southport Cadets achieved success in the Yoles this year, the first time we have entered a team in the North West Area Competition.

AC Smith and AC France came 2^nd in the Junior event and LC Cousins and AC Brooks won the Open event semi final convincingly, to achieve a place in the final.

We are hoping to own our own Yole very shortly, having raised over £2,000 from sponsored events, including a 12 hour sponsored kayaking event, and from donations from local organisations.

Southport Cadets tried out their skills in the Rowing Boat and Power Boat Handling Competitions for the first time this year.

Both teams did well, our Rowing Boat Handling team achieving 2^nd place, winning Silver medals, despite being one man down and our Power Boat Handling team finishing a respectable 5^th out of 12.

All Southport Unit’s hard work paid off at the North West Area Regatta at East Brunswick Dock Liverpool, where all 9 of our Cadets won through to the finals, OC Wilson and AC Brooks winning First place in the Junior Boys and Senior Girls Competition.

Other medals were won by AC Smith – Silver, LC Cousins – Bronze, AC France - Bronze .

LC Cousins and AC Brooks pictured left, had the honour of being Southport Unit’s first ever entrants in a Windsurfing Competition at this year’s North West Area Regatta held at Crosby Lakeside Adventure Centre.

Well done to LC Cousins, AC Brooks and OC Wilson who all won Gold medals in the Liverpool District Kayaking Competition.

They were all well ahead of the other competitors in both the heats and the finals.
