Southern Area Drill and Piping Competition

24 March 2019

Congratulations to everyone who took part in the Southern Area Drill and Piping competition at RAF Halton.

Following our success at the Wessex Region competition the unit was up against strong competition and looking for a win and the right to compete at the National competition to be held at HMS Raleigh in Plymouth on the 13th April.  The unit put on a fantastic display and performed exceptionally with fantastic results:

  • 1st - team piping
  • 2nd - continuity
  • 2nd and 3rd individual piping

Well done to all the Cadets from the Southampton unit and good luck as they progress through to the National competition.

Singing for our Supper!

9 February 2019

Lindsey (OiC Southampton Sea Cadets) and other committee members attended the annual Sea Pie Supper.

The event was hosted by the Southampton Master Mariners Club, also known as The Cachalots, and was held at Southamptons St Mary Stadium.  It was a fantastic evening for sharing stories with friends, old and new, and to sing along to some traditional sea shanties such as What shall we do with a drunken sailor!

Over £4000 was raised for three chosen charites; The Mission to Seafarers, The Apostleship of the Sea and The Sailors' Society.  Chartiable donations and fundraising events like these are a vital sources of income to charities, like the Sea Cadets and help them to continue to support thier cause.
