Carnival

Well done to all the cadets and juniors that took part in Sittingbourne carnival today!

We came first in the Marching band category!

Despite the heat you all got on with it without any complaining, its quite a long route and lots of waiting around.

Thank you to CI Gaze for towing the boat and storing all the band equipment boxes, and water in his car. Thank you to the parent that turned up with the cool box to keep the drinks cool.

Thank you to the juniors mum that brought us all ice lollys for when the carnival had finished.

Thank you to the chairman for having delicious BBQ ready for us when we got back to the unit

Cadet Skills Challange winners

Sittingbourne sea cadets spent the weekend 10th -11th June onboard HMS Caviller at Chatham Dockyard.

The cadets ages 14-12 took part in a Cadet Skills Challenge competition against other Sea Cadet units in the District including Sheppey, Medway Towns, Maidstone and Dartford.

Over the weekend, the cadets had to complete a variety of tasks and questions covering a wide range of sea cadet knowledge. Tasks included seamanship, coiling a heaving line and throwing it from ship to shore. First aid and piping on the boatswains call were also included. Cadets were assessed on their teamwork and leadership during a task and also throughout the weekend.  After a night onboard HMS Caviller the cadets were again tested on their Naval Knowledge and adventure training skills. They were even put through dress inspections.

The competition was  really close with only 35 points between the last and first place teams.

The Sittingbourne cadets were pleased to find out they had won the competition and are now training hard in the hope they can keep this title next year.
