Donate to our Buy-a-Brick Campaign and Help Us Build a Brighter Future

We're inviting everyone in our community and beyond to Buy-a-(virtual) Brick and make our new Unit building dreams a reality.

When buying your Brick, be sure to mention the wording you would like, as this will be displayed on the new wall (you can change this at any time).

Your donation, however small, will make a real difference.

As a valued provider of youth training provision in South Sefton, we are outgrowing the space in which to host our Cadets. We need to provide a safe, warm, secure training space for our young people.

We strive to create invaluable opportunities for young people in our community. Whether they decide to make the Sea their career or not, we are here for them. However, our rapidly ageing and maintenance-heavy buildings are starting to impact on the quality of that provision.

The Solution

We need to replace our current group of small buildings to meet the needs of the charity going forward. Without this, we will struggle to achieve our goals of ensuring no young person in our community is left behind, in terms of quality, safe education and training opportunities.

We're not just another youth charity, we are a vital and valued asset in your community.

As an education and training resource near a Free Port, in a Port City, we pride ourselves in mentoring, supporting and creating leaders of the future, Seafarers for industry and young people who can be justifiably proud of the maritime heritage of their local and wider community. Our Unit and wider organisation makes a real impact on the lives of young people.

By re-invigorating our site, we're building a sure footing for all the young people in the community who are yet to take up our experiences and improve their life prospects.

YOU can help us implement real improvements in the environment in which our young people are trained.

YOU have the power and momentum as a community to make a tangible difference to the lives and futures of thousands of young people going forward.

NOW is the time to support us and help us to achieve our vision of a warm, safe, sustainable space for our young people. Combating anti-social behaviour, loneliness and loss of engagement, driving improvement in youth mental health and citizenship.

Royal Marines Cadets Launch Year of Celebrations

Our Royal Marines Cadet Detachment - #TheMighty48 - have officially launched their year of celebrations, marking a quarter of a Century of delivering the Cadet Experience and representing the RM Corps Family in South Sefton.  They will be undertaking several fundraising initiatives and reunion events throughout the year, celebrating their membership of our organisation, and the integral part they play in the busy life of #TeamStarling.

We'll keep you posted regarding events, but please save the date for our Fun Day, to be held at our Field Lane HQ on Saturday 6th July!

Record Number of Starlings on Trafalgar Square

Record Number of Starlings on Trafalgar Square

No, not the feathered kind, but 14 of our Cadets marched proudly onto Trafalgar Square on Sunday 21st October, then up The Mall into Wellington Barracks.  Three of our Adult Volunteers were volunteering as well, not forgetting the amazing solo performance by Unit Assistant Louise Cowling, who sang a medley of poignant songs and lead the Naval Hymn - Eternal Father.

Marching through central London is always an immensely proud experience and, as you can see by the photo, it was an enjoyable day.

Sefton Celebrates 75th Anniversary!

Sefton Celebrates 75th Anniversary!

We're celebrating 75 glorious years supporting the young people of South Sefton.  From small beginings as two separate Units: Crosby and Litherland (TS Renown) and Bootle (TS Starling), TS Starling as a whole was born.  We've had some fantastic successes during our long and proud history, and will continue to provide valuable experiences and lifelong friendships for many years to come.

We'll be celebrating with a 75th Anniversary Fun Day on Saturday 14th July and we'd love you to join us! Find our event on Facebook for more information: https://www.facebook.com/events/429839664109132/

Re-Commissioning of Mountbatten Block

Re-Commissioning of Mountbatten Block

Following extensive refurbishment due to a flood to our Main Deck (Mountbatten Block), we were delighted to be able to re-commision the building last night at our Ceremonial Divisions and Awards Evening.

This included the Enrolment of 5 very lucky Cadets, who have the honour of being the first Class to Pass Out in the new Block.

Amazing work behind the scenes from our Trustees and Volunteers, as always! #NeverOrdinary #TheMighty48 #TeamStarling
