Field Gun Pull to Ravenscar - 7th September 2013

Field Gun Pull to Ravenscar - 7th September 2013

It is that time of year again, when the Cadets take part in their 13 Miles Field Gun Pull.

They will start from the RNLI Boat House on the Foreshore Road, pulling the Field Gun around Prince Albert Drive, around the Open Air Theatre, then up to Cross Lane, where they will pick up the Cinder Track to Ravenscar.

They will stop off for Breaks on-route and so any Parents or Friends who wish to help please get in touch with Cadets or The Friends & Family Group.

The Cadets will rest up overnight and head up to Burniston on Sunday morning, where they will again pull the Field Gun around Prince Albert Drive and finish up back outside the RNLI Boat House.  Times will be posted beforehand so that lots of Parents, Friends & Family can be there to "cheer them home".

Cadets are aiming to raise as much money for the Unit as possible and so please ensure that you get your sponsorship forms from the Unit asap.  This is a wonderful weekend for the Cadets and they really feel like they have achieved something when they have completed the 13 miles, so please show your support.

We have set-up a "Just Giving" page for donations  (Scarborough to Ravescar Field Gun Pull) and a 'Text to donate option' just text CDTS50 to 70070.

Thank you.

Armed Forces Day Saturday 29th June

Armed Forces Day Saturday 29th June

Armed Foces Day- Saturday 29th June

This years The RAF are taking the lead in this fantastic annual event. The Scarborough sea Cadets will have a stall on the Seafront as always, selling Flags and cadet merchandice as well as having lots of information to hand out to potential new recruits.  Stickers and leaflets will also be available.

The event runs from 12 noon until 17:00.  Cadets need to meet up at the Unit at 11:00 and there will be a march-by followed by a service at 16:00 along the foreshore.  Number 4's at the Unit and number 1's for the march-by.

***UPDATE***  It was a wonderful day and the Cadets took over £700.00 on the Stall.  As well as speaking to lots of people and passing on information regarding the Unit, we received some very positive reports back regarding how well our Cadets looked & performed.  This was a very well attended event and the great weather along with the Red Arrows Display made for a superb day.  BZ to all.

SHIP AHOY - New Sea Cadets Ship Fundraising 2013

SHIP AHOY - New Sea Cadets Ship Fundraising 2013

Saturday 20th April 2013

The Sea cadet Corp is going to replace the Sea Cadets Flag Ship T.S Royalist.

The ship was launched by Princess Anne in 1971 and has served thousands of cadets through those years.

The Corp is aiming to raise £5m for this project and has targeted each Area within the Cadet structure to raise £5,000.

Scarborough Sea Cadets are doing their bit by 'Rowing around the World'.

Scarborough Rowing Club has offered the use of their Rowing equipment and Scarborough Sea Cadets will raise sponsorship money through every cadet participating in this event.

We will be running the event from 08:00 to 20:00. Cadets will be allocated time slots to ensure that we have enough personnel and Staff to cover this event. You will not be expected to do the full 12 hours shift!!

Instructors will be taking part in this also, so it is important that we get those sponsorship forms filled in as much as we can, every penny counts for this great Sea cadet cause.

Below is a link to a message on YouTube by the Sea Cadets Captain. This shows T.S Royalist and explains what the Sea cadet Corp is looking to do.

Shrove Tuesday - 12th February 2013

Shrove Tuesday - 12th February 2013

The Unit once again held its annual Pancake Day on Tuesday 12th February.

The Unit was open at 12 Noon and once the towns ‘Pancake’ bell was rung everyone came down to the Sea Cadet Unit for their Pancakes and cuppa’s.  It was a very successful day with a full 'Tombola' and busy BookShop raising some much needed funds for the Unit.

Better weather would have increased numbers, but it was February, so thank you to everyone who supported us and for braving the 'chilly' afternoon. Well Done All.
