CATSEA 2018

CATSEA 2018

Our Royal Marines Cadets attended the annual CATSEA assessment at Crowborough Camp last weekend. They were tested on everything they have learned; the senior cadets ability to lead, their teamwork, fieldcraft, seamanship and first aid.

Despite the rain, they achieved a good score, a testament to the hard work put in by the cadets and staff. BZ!

New Quests

New Quests

Ryde Unit were recently allocated three brand new RS Quest Dinghies. These will provide a modern, stable learning platform for those new to sailing, as well as enabling advanced sailors to continue to progress with spinnakers, or sails further afar.

Here you see three cadets setting up for the first time. There were a lot of small, fiddly screws, but they managed without loosing too many bits...

We look forward to next years sailing season, and getting these out on the water for the first time!

Ryde Remembers

Ryde Remembers

Over the weekend, cadets from Ryde took part in a variety of parades and events. Saturday saw  the town fall silent at 11am, with staff and cadets attending a short service in Ryde, followed by a couple of hours poppy selling in Sandown. Thank you to Terri's Cakes and Gift Shop for allowing our cadets to help out, and keeping us supplied with tea and cake!

Sunday had us parading in Sandown, with staff in Ryde and AC Ethan as the Lord Lt Cadet in Newport, and in the afternoon we also attended the short memorial service at Ashey cemetery.

Thank you you to all the cadets, staff and parents for this weekend,!
