Community defibrillator at Preston Sea Cadets

We are delighted to announce that after month of fundraising we have now been able to install a community defibrillator. The campaign for the defibrillator was headed by the unit Commanding Officer S/Lt (SCC) W Warner RNR. The defibrillator is installed at the front of the Sea Cadet building. It can be accessed by any member of the local community or anyone from the unit by calling 999 in an emergency and obtaining the code from the Ambulance service.

S/Lt Warner states "This life saving piece of equipment is now available for use and better protects our Staff, Cadets and the local community. I hope we never need to use the defibrillator but to ensure that people are confident to use we will soon be hosting free training in basic life support and in the use of a defibrillator for members of the local community, our cadets and staff members. I would also like to thanks all those who donated to the Defibrillator appeal especially Kathleen Cross and the customers of the Acregate Social club who raised £204 towards the purchase of the defibrillator"

Although the unit has now been purchased we will continue our fundraising efforts to ensure that we can replace consumables such as pads for the electrodes and replacement batteries. These both have a shelf life of two years.

POC Jackson, AC Cadman and MC Horn take part in...

POC Jackson and AC Cadman take part in the guard for Trafalgar Day Parade in London. The two represented TS Galloway in the Guard, made up of cadets from the North West Area and London Area. Both Cadets had to apply and undergo a selection weekend to be able to take part in the parade. The hard work did not stop there as both cadets travelled down to HMS Excellent in Portsmouth for 3 days of non stop drill practice before the actual parade.

MC Horn also represented TS Galloway by taking part in the North West Area physical training display team. As with POC Jackson and AC Cadman, MC Horn attended a selection weekend and then had 3 days of PT practice before the big day.

All cadets did TS Galloway proud and are an asset to the unit. BZ to you all!!

AC is the second cadet in on the second picture, MC horn is on the front row second from the left with his eyes half closed!!

This award will be given by the Commanding Officer to either a cadet, member of staff, member of the committee or a supporter of the unit in recognition of their efforts throughout the year. Sub-Lieutenant (SCC) W Warner RNR, Commanding Officer at Preston Sea Cadets, gave the award to Sgt (SCC) C Letthard. S/Lt Warner stated “Sgt Letthard had been awarded this trophy for going above and beyond the call of duty within the unit. Preston Sea Cadets help raise money for Help...

Sunday 13th April 2015 saw members of Preston Sea Cadets help out at Tesco in Chorley to raise £4035 for the charity Help for Heroes. We were kindly invited by Manager Martin Goulden to assist raising money for this very worthy cause by packing bags on behalf of customers in return for a donation. Cadets were also posted at the entrance point with collection buckets.
Even though Preston Sea Cadets is a charity in its own rights we are still more than willing to help out and raise money on behalf of other charities.
Martin commented on how impressed he was with our cadets stating that they were "Professional and well turned out".
