Armed Forces Day flag raising event - County Hall

Nottingham Unit were proud to support the raising of the City and County Armed Forces Day flag with celebrations and reception at County Hall (Monday 22nd June). This starts the celebrations and the event that will take place at Wollaton Park on Saturday 27th June 2015. The Armed Forces Day flag arrived in style having been sailed down the River Trent arriving with the District Officer on board the Unit Champ. The flag was then handed to a D-day Veteran. A number of cadets and staff supported the event. Photo shows one of our Royal Marine Cadets - MC2 Laurence. We hope to see you at Wollaton Hall on the 27th and 28th June where we will be supporting the event with a promotional stand.

Regatta News- Great win by Open Boys.

Regatta News- Great win by Open Boys.

Sunday 21st June saw the Nottingham Unit host the Nottingham and Derby District regatta. All the teams taking part tried hard and were a credit to their unit. Nottingham had success with the Open boys Racing Rowing team, last years National Powerboat Handling team and our Rowing boat handling team all go through to the area Regatta to represent the District. Our Mixed Junior team took the opportunity to learn the skills of Rowing racing and enjoyed their day too.

The day was finished off with a staff race - the winning team managed to hold off from second who were narrow grabbing a sneaky tow over the line. Great fun, lots of support and it didn't rain either. Off to Area in July!

Thank you! Open evening success

As a unit team we would like to say a Big Thank You to all those people that came and visited the unit last Thursday. The night was a success and hopefully we are expecting new recruits to the Juniors, Royal Marine Cadets and the Sea Cadets AKA blue jackets!

It gives us a template to work with so we can arrange another night towards the end of the year. Any feedback please let us know using our sea cadet email : nottinghamseacadets@live.co.uk

Many Thanks

THIS WEEK! Open Evening - Thursday 21st May...

Ever wondered what we do down on the Nottingham Sea Cadet Unit? Why not come along and find out. May 21st is our open evening for any potential adult volunteers or new cadets. Staff and cadets from both the Sea Cadets (blue) and the Royal Marine Cadets (green) will be on hand to show you our unit, our impressive boat collection - weather permitting some will be on the water and some of the interesting skills we learn. The unit offers the cadets the chance to learn new skills that will help them in both the cadets and life, we are steeped in the traditions of the Royal Navy and the Royal Marines so it may also lead to an insight into their eventual career choice. Our emphasis is on fun with our Corps values of respect, honesty and integrity as well as self discipline and loyalty.   As an adult volunteer you too can come with little or no experience or be a previous member of the armed forces, either way the Sea Cadet Corps will provide you training in new skills or revision of old ones. Why not come along and visit our ship TS Orion on the night to find out more?
