Town Honours Cadets

Town Honours Cadets

Every June, will see the Annual Milford Haven Town Council Citizens Awards being presented at the Town Hall.  In order to be presented with such an award, you have to be nominated (and a citation written) which is submitted to the Council; they then pick the best of the applications based on the information, with the names blanked.

For the 3rd year running, we are delighted to announce that one of our cadets has gained a Youth Citizen's Awards for his commitment to the Unit and as a result his work within the Community.  A thoroughly deserved Youth Award to Petty Officer Cadet Scott Claypole.

It also, gives us great privilege to announce that our former Commanding Officer and the Deputy District Officer for South Wales District, Lieutenant (SCC) William Elliott RNR was awarded a Citizens Award for his previous work with the Unit and ensuring its future was bright.

BZ to both!

Milford Haven Sea Cadets & Royal Marines Cadets...

Last month, Milford Haven Sea Cadet Corps and Royal Marines Cadets received a welcome boost from two local sources.

The youth organisation, which provides opportunities for young people aged 10 - 18 years old, was the beneficiary of two business community funds, allowing them to expand the rang of training assets and equipment available to cadets.

Milford Haven Sea Cadets and Royal Marines Cadets will purchase a Rigiflex 360 boat, including trailer and outboard with the funding, allowing them to improve what boat work they can offer to cadets.  Especially in terms of waterborne qualifications and accredited training in Sailing, Powerboat and Windsurfing with the RYA (Royal Yachting Association).

The new safety boat and equipment will be generously paid for by South Hook LNG and the Port of Milford Haven.

Over the years, Rigiflex boats have established themselves as the recognised industry standard for small and safe vessels.  The advantage of Rigiflex boats is it's sustainability due to the toughness and durability, meaning maintenance costs will be minimised for Milford Haven Sea Cadet Corps and Royal Marines Cadets.

Anna Malloy, PR and Communications Manager at the Port of Milford Haven, commented, "We are happy to support the Cadets so that they can provide young people with a wide range of activities that teach them both practical and social skills.  I look forward to seeing their new boat being used on the Milford Haven Waterway."

Shipping & Planning Superintendent at South Hook LNG Terminal, Frank Thomas, commented on the importance of the new boat saying, "South Hook LNG is pleased to be providing support that brings additional safety measures to the valuable training given by Milford Haven Sea Cadets & Royal Marines Cadets."

Lieutenant (SCC) William Elliott RNR, The RYA Training Centre Principal for Milford Haven Sea Cadets and Royal Marines Cadets commented the following, "The community collaboration between the two community funds shows how powerful they wish to support local causes.  This support has allowed us to improve our safety boat capabilities and modernise our training for the young people that we train.  A huge thank you to both the Port of Milford Haven and South Hook LNG for their continuing support and generosity."

Rotary Club Continued Support!

Rotary Club Continued Support!

Recently, the Milford Haven Rotary Club has donated two new computers and Microsoft Office packages to the Milford Haven Sea Cadets & Royal Marines Cadets.

This donation worth nearly £800.00 has seen the Unit's administration jet into the 21st Century, as well as providing a further computer which enhances the training that can be offered at the Unit in the Haven's Head Business Park.

Chief Petty Officer (SCC) Beverley Jenkins, the Commanding Officer comments "We have had a very good relationship with the Rotary Club for a number of years and the support they continually offer and show to the Unit is fantastic.  This particular donation allows the administration border to be handled at a quicker speed so that more time can be offered to the cadets on their training.  Thank you to all at Milford Haven Rotary Club for this kind donation".

Milford Haven Rotary Club President Robert Edwards commented that he was pleased to be able to support the Cadets as the organisation makes a really vital contribution to the young people in the town.  The donation was funded not only from our Club, but also from The Rotary Foundation, the charitable fund which is part of Rotary International.  For further details of the Rotary organisation Robert suggested looking at www.rbi.org commenting that we haven't quite caught up with the Facebook and Twitter scene yet.

Remembrance Parade 2014

Remembrance Parade 2014

A massive well done to the smartly turned out Ship's Company of Training Ship Harrier (Sea Cadets, Royal Marines Cadets, Junior Sea Cadets and Adult Instructors) that attended the Milford Haven Remembrance Parade.

Especially as our first year with ALL members of the Royal Marines Cadets in their number 1's uniform and showing off another fantastic part of OUR Unit!

Petty Officer Cadet Callum Snape was the Parade Commander and carried it out with a great performance!  A smart young man carrying out such an important job for the day!

Able Cadet Sophie Hounsome carried out her duties as the Mayor's Cadet to a very high standard!

Able Cadet Harriet Evans laid Mr Stephen Crabb MP's wreath at the Cenotaph on his behalf.

Leading Cadet Scott Claypole, Marine Cadet Rhys Lewis and Leading Junior Cadet Ethan King laid the Unit's wreath with great pride!
