Congratulations Mildenhall at the District...

On Sunday 9th October, Mildenhall and District Sea Cadets took part in the District 5-a-side. We won almost every game and finished as winners in the Senior Girl, Junior Girl and Junior Boy categories. Well done to all who took part.

Despite this, Lincoln finished as District champions. Congratulations to Lincoln.

We look forward to the Area event on Sunday 4th December.

Our Boat Shed has Arrived!!

Following a busy two weeks, our new boat shed has arrived. On Saturday 24th September several staff, cadets, UMC members and parents gathered to begin to clear the grounds and start to make ready for the boat shed to arrive. They worked hard and were able to ensure that all was ready for Monday when the container , which previously stored our kayaks, would be removed.

Monday came and so did Mr Rudderham with his tractor and lorry. After a tricky start they finally managed to drag the container down the drive and lift it onto the lorry. Mrs Croft was as excited as a school girl! Goodbye container.

Friday 30th September, the shed arrived, and so did the cheque from the Parish Council! Gary and Gavin from Station Timber in Mildenhall worked themselves till exhausted over the weekend so that we could fill it with items from the unit. Another work party of mad souls cleared and restowed kayaks, boats and equipment during the weekend, even managing to decorate the Engineering classroom!!

The Chairman and CO wish to convey their thanks and gratitude to all who took part in making the boat shed happen. You can see it in the photo gallery.

There will be a formal opening ceremony in the new year as there is still work to be done. So watch this space for more info........

Police Station Visit

Cadets and staff visited the Mildenhall police station on Monday 26th September. We were shown inside a police car, got to ask all sorts of questions about the weapons that they use and were allowed to set off the sirens in the patrol car. Many thanks to Sgt Phil Payne and his staff for giving up their time to accommodate us.

Sponsored Walk

On Saturday 10th September, 22 willing and stalwart souls marched out on our sponsored walk. The weather was again kind to us and we thank Padre for his help with that.

Many thanks go to the landlords of Jude's Ferry at West Row and The Bird in Hand in Beck Row for their hospitality and welcome.

Once all the sponsor money has been collected and counted we will update this news with the total.

Well done to everyone who took part and I am pleased to report that no body failed to complete the course. Even Barney the dog who, of course, walked more than the rest of us put together.

Organisation's Day Mildenhall

The Unit Chairman, three staff and eleven cadets joined other organisations in Mildenhall to support the Parish Council in their Organisation's Day.

The cadets displayed photographs of events and parades from the past year to promote The Sea Cadets in Mildenhall. They demonstrated how to properly clean their boots and their knowledge of ropework by providing a table for the public to join them in learning how to tie basic knots and bends.
