Visit to HMS Explorer

Cadets and Staff from the Unit recently visited HMS Explorer at Hull Marina.  They toured the ship and found out about its role as a Royal Navy warship. Some cadets even practiced their conning orders.

Thanks go to Lieutenant Hughes, HMS Explorer's training officer for facilitating a very enjoyable and informative visit.

Visit to HMCG / Bristow Search and Rescue Base

The Unit recently visited the Search and Rescue Base at Humberside Airport.  The SAR flight is operated by Bristow Helicopters for HM Coastguard and it has been operating since April 2015.

The cadets were given a tour of the operations room where they were shown the area of operation and told about the call out process for the helicopter.  They then toured the hanger, where the two SikorskyS-92s helicopters are kept.

The duty flight commander explained how a helicopter operates and pointed out the various equipment carried both outside and inside the helicopter.
