TS Hastings are winners!!!

On Sunday 4th February the cadets for TS Hastings took part in the Sussex Drill and Piping Competition at the Redoubt Fort in Eastbourne. It was also the perfect setting for the Sussex District Annual Awards. For the second year in a row, TS Hastings was named as best Unit in Sussex, as well as winning awards for the most amount of BTEC Awards and individuals winning the most event days in Sussex and the best Junior in Sussex. An impressive and deserved haul for a hardworking team.

The cadets also performed exceptionally well in the Drill and Piping competition and won all three events that they entered; the Best Colour Party, the Best Piping Team and the Best Junior Piping Team. All three teams now progress through to the Area Competition next month and we wish them the best of luck. An impressive day for TS Hastings! Bravo Zulu.

RN Commander visits Hastings Unit

TS Hastings cadets were extremely privileged to have the Commander of the Fishery Protection Squadron, Commander Sarah Oakley RN, visit the unit last night to give a presentation about her time in the Royal Navy and the potential future career opportunities. They heard about the role of the Fishery Protection Squadron, the wildlife in the Falklands and the jobs that Commander Oakley has experienced. Commander Oakley also presented PO (SCC) Michelle Diett with her third good conduct badge.

TS Hastings is proud to announce that it has once again received a Burgee for 2017. The Burgee is the highest commendation that can be bestowed on a Sea Cadet Unit and put us in the top echelons of units in the country. This is the 44th Burgee the unit has received in the last 45 years, making us one of, if not THE, most successful units in the country. The award is testament to all the hard work put in by the volunteers, supporters and cadets over the year and is a massive achievement. We are extremely proud to have received it again this year.

Cadets once again took part in the Christmas Remembrance Procession for the The Winkle Club in the old town. The procession remembers all those that have lost their lives at sea.

On Friday 15th December, cadets, staff, supporters and guests, including the Deputy Mayor Cllr Nigel Sinden, took part in the annual TS Hastings Carol Concert. The event was planned and organized by the unit Padre, Father Luke, and was held at Christ Church, St Leonards. At the event Lt (SCC) Chris Connor RMR, Commanding Officer, announced that the unit had received a burgee in it's annual efficiency awards, the highest commendation bestowed on a Sea Cadet Unit. This is the 44th burgee in 45 years.
